Burly and dark pinot with plenty to back it up. — 5 months ago
Big blackberry and plum juice nose, beautiful pastry notes of berry tart, smoke, sweetness and funk. Grape juice and granite. A touch of black pepper spice and amazing mineral density. Burly but clean and satisfying. Some bitterness on the finish that should resolve with time, otherwise drinking really nicely. — 8 months ago
Highly peppery, aromatic, very scented. Black rich, slightly jammy fruit (blackberries, mulberries), a healthy pinch of freshly ground black pepper, some black olives.
Great freshness on the palate, with the rich, slightly creamy black fruit only he one side and the juicy, spicy tannins on the other. This is rich & burly yet elegant at the same time. A beautiful Hermitage, on the more modern spectrum.

Solid. A bit burly. Enjoyed with Chicken Cacciatore. — 2 months ago
What a big, burly wine! At 10 years old already, this could probably have gone another decade in the bottle. The tannins were certainly present, but they had certain sweetness about them. Flavors of dark fruit, chocolate, leather, and tobacco dominate this massive wine. What a perfect pairing with our prime rib Christmas dinner. I will definitely seek this one (or other pignolos) out in the future, though I'd like to taste one with even more bottle age! 100% Pignolo. 12/25/21. — 7 months ago
Sipping Fine Wine
Aged 20 months in 80% new French oak, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Sciandri Family Vineyard in Coombsville, deep Ruby with aromas of dark red fruits, herbs and oak. On the palate flavors of blackberry and ripe raspberry with herbs, toasty oak and cacao. Firm tannins, long finish ending with fruit, toasty oak and mineral character. Very nice, needs more time.
