Villero di Castiglione Falletto Barolo Nebbiolo 1996

This bottle was outstanding. Opened with a rusty hue but 4 hours in the decanter and the color came back ruby red and the classic Nebbiolo notes were abounding. Dare I say it was even fresh at times. This ethereal wine has more years ahead. But it was outstanding tonight. An absolute stunner. — 8 days ago

La Garenne Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2013

Elegant if a little thin. Beautiful lemon pith and hints of almond cream with flinty mineral undertones. Broad acidity on the palate which gives great tension to the wine, but does feel just a bit muted on the palate. By no means unenjoyable though. Still has some life left in the bottle for cellaring. — 20 days ago

Chianti Classico Sangiovese 2018

Superb. Especially for $30 or so. Licorice and red fruit. Intense without weight. Good acidity helped complement the food. A winner. — a day ago

"En la Rue de Vergy" Morey-Saint-Denis Pinot Noir 2011

Superb Morey Villages that needed a bit of time in the cellar to open up some. All the power of a Morey with freshness and elegance, nice pure fruit, lovely and silky tannins, long delicious finish, really good especially given this cold 2011 vintage. 90-91 easy.

Maremma Toscana SuperTuscan Blend 2016

I like Super Tuscans when Sangiovese plays the first violin. Still getting it all together. I’m very curious to see where this goes with further cellaring — 2 days ago

Pio della Rocca Merlot Blend 2011

90% Merlot, 10% Cab Sauvignon. Tar, earth, tannins, acidity. Would have liked a bit more fruit and a bit more bouquet. — 2 days ago

Geremia Toscana Cabernet-Merlot Blend 2016

Delectable Wine

The 2016 Geremia is a total knock-out. An exotic mélange of sweet dark cherry, plum, chocolate, licorice, spice and menthol races out of the glass. The 2016 is deep, dense and full of character. It is also easy to drink with minimal cellaring. Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon work so well here in the way they express richness and structure, all with a real sense of Tuscan raw power. Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2017

Powerful, & dark fruited. This took a bit to fully open up. It started with heavy oaky spice & black tea tannins. The rich black cherry character moved to the front as well as a more silky elegant texture. Chassagne & Santenay vineyards here. Needs some air or a little more time in the bottle, but a very nice wine. — 21 days ago
