Domaine Henri Boillot

Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Chardonnay 2014

2014 vintage. Decanted. Yes, decanted. Let this warm up a tad from the 39 degree storage. Ridiculous lemon curd, orange peel, "minerality" and just ripened Anjou pear hither and fro. Tasted 1.25 hours after decanting and slowly warming up (tasted at approx 64 degrees). Rocking now and in the zone for the next 4-5 years without difficulties/speedbumps. Phenomenal. 7.5.24. — 10 days ago

In this line-up this seemed a tad bland an uninspiring. Well made, sure. But not very memorable. — 7 days ago

Domaine Leflaive

Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay 2005

Delectable Wine

The 2005 Bienvenue-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru came from an original bottle, i.e., not reconditioned at the Domaine due to premox problems. It has a rich and concentrated bouquet, with hints of wild honey intermixed with white flowers and broom. It shows a wonderful definition, a hint of candy floss emerging with aeration. The palate is very well-balanced with great poise, a silver thread of acidity and a dash of white pepper and crustacea towards the sustained finish. Outstanding. Tasted at Clarette in London. Look at that colour…
The youthfullness and vibrancy of this wine is truly mindbending.
