Not the best methode champenoise i have ever had, but it has a great story. The winery was begun by Stalin who worried he couldn’t get his beloved Champagne so started a local version - Sovietskoye Shampanskoye - in wineries around Bakhmut in what is now Ukraine. This wine was made by brave Ukrainians and smuggled out as the Russians attacked Bakhmut. So it’s gotta be a 10/10 from me! — 6 months ago
