Exactly what you expect from a quality producer in Piedmont. Heavily perfume on the nose. Sour cherry, leather, tobacco, vanilla, wood. The palate shows grippy tannins without being overly drying, so it’s perfect with a meal, but also fine by itself. This wine is in a very good place. Showing some age, but definitely has a long life ahead with proper care. Just...*chef’s kiss* — 9 days ago
2020/9 with Santa Maria-style grilled tri tip and Matheson’s favorite salad. Beautiful, layered aromas - red fruit, orange, spice, leather - and lots of material and acidity. A natural will grilled beef, too. — 4 days ago
The Tabarrini Montefalco Sagrantino ages 18 months in casks, 18 months in small barrels and 18 months in the bottle before its release. This is an absolute minimum to tame its tannines. The wine is dark, dense and a mouthful! Its firm structure is accompanied by cherry, plum, and black berry. Age worthy still! — a month ago
Not sure if I've been here before.... This has potential, but needs time... At least.
Flint, ash, rose, white pepper, and only a hint of strawberry on the nose.
More red fruit on the palate, including strawberry and red cherry. Sour red cherry. Tannins are very nice at medium plus. Alcohol at medium plus. Acidity is medium. This can certainly be expected to improve with ageing, but I'm concerned that the fruit is not still dominant at only two years in.

Decanted first 2 hours. Drinking well. Can last for many years with lots of structure — 20 days ago
Clear garnet. Nose of black cherry and roses. Medium light, fruity palate of black cherry, violets, and a hint of anise. Medium plus acidity. Medium minus tannins. Hey, it’s a solid Sangiovese that’ll go great with Italian-American fare or medium cheeses. Drink now. — 10 days ago
