Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

Dense crimson in colour - impenetrable. Strong aromas of mint. The excessive oak influence in Penfolds reds early in life has settled down after 15 years. All the individual components early on are now integrated settling in for a long life. Penfolds say to 2040. Ripe blackcurrant with plum, dark chocolate and liquorice notes. Bin 407 came about because of an embarrassment of Cabernet riches even after their flagship Bin 707. An excellent Cab - I now have 5 left for the coming decade or so. — 12 days ago

@Ira Schwartz, I lived on Cranberry Street in Brooklyn Heights in the 1980s, between Henry and Hicks, my favorite (1/2 block away) retailer was Marcolini Wines and Liquor (Armand Correia), who taught me SO MUCH about wine that I’m forever in his debt (sadly, he passed some years ago)!! He sourced that wine, my 2 cases of 1983 Fonsalette Cuvée Syrah, and MANY other wines for me, I cannot ever begin to repay his kindness and knowledge!!
@Ira Schwartz, if you ever watched “Moonstruck”, the store was in the movie on the corner of Cranberry and Hicks, right next to the apartment where Cher, Olympia Dukakis and the others lived, it was in one or two scenes. Also, we lived right next door to the Catholic Church shown early in the movie on Cranberry, when they were filming those scenes (at night), they had a trailer parked out front. One night, I got home from work, walked to Marcolini’s, grabbed a bottle of wine and headed back to our apartment (Co-op), and the trailer door opened, a pretty woman stepped out, who I proceeded to ALMOST run over, I said sorry ma’am, and 5 stepped later I realized I almost ran over CHER in my haste to get back and open that bottle of wine. TRUE STORY!!

Grange Hermitage Bin 95 Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

This wine confounds me sometimes. Its real hard to peg this as an Australian wine. This is a true structure bomb like any other massive Boudreaux blend. Black fruit and cassis, with pencil lead and earth tones. Deep dark Hugh, and a long finish. i struggle with its costs, but I'm glad to have enjoyed a glass — 11 days ago

Bin 389 South Australia Cabernet Shiraz 2022

Referred to as the “Baby Grange,” blend of 51/49 Cab Sauv & Shiraz, aged for 12 months in 36% new American oak, partly in previous-vintage Grange casks. Dark Ruby with aromas of fresh black fruits, complex with sweet spice. On the palate flavors of black cherry and blackberry flavors with notes of cacao, oak and toasty spices. Well balanced with acidity, full firm tannins, long ending with smoky spice, fruit well integrated with oak, drink over next 10 years+, will only get better. Nice! — a day ago

RWT Barossa Valley Shiraz 2018

Dark Ruby with dark berry fruit aromas, vanilla, cedar, baking and herb spice, fruit only from Barossa Valley, aged in French oak. On the palate this wine has complex flavors of blackberry and blueberry with licorice, cacao, oak and vanilla. Fine dusty tannins, peasant mouthfeel, full-bodied, long ending with a nice earthy spice finish. Aging well, good now, has room to age! — 15 days ago

Grange Bin 95 Shiraz 1999

The times I helt a bottle like this in my hands, I can probably count on only one hand. Even for Delectable this is a rare occasion because it didn’t know how to correctly recognize it. When a wine connects like this, lifts you off the ground and takes you to a beautiful place, you know it is good. Intense, but perfectly balanced, so many instruments playing that still echo for minutes in a lingering finish. 26 years old yet so vibrant and wild with dark punchy fruits encapsulated by aged mahogany wood that released different flavors every time I took a sip… yeah… life is good. Offered by a friend who loves wine and even more loves to share! — 19 days ago

Vintage 2016 | Opaque and dark. Multi layered bouquet to dream of: dark pepper, plum, leather, tobacco, Scottish pipe tobacco, everything in a rich, chic style. Chocolate in taste, rondeur as well as some unbending characteristics. A real treat. — 5 days ago
