Dried fruit, leather, tobacco, peppercorn but also a surprising tartness (cherry? Cran?) on the palate. A Bday wine from Teresa and Andy, drank just in time as the 2004 has lost all tannins. Nice barbera. At first I thought it might be a bit corked but with a bit of air it comes together. Pretty deep and full, with some viscosity from the alcohol. Quite earthy on the finish with good acid. For some reason didn’t quite sing as much as the same bottle a bit over a year ago. — 2 years ago
