An absolutely incredible single vineyard Brunello from a landmark vintage. Dark ruby color with a slight brick rim. Aromas of forest floor, bramble fruit, tar and dried herbs. Flavors of black cherry, tobacco, black licorice and coffee. Long and luxurious finish and just enough velvety tannin to enhance and lengthen the experience. Medium-plus body and perfectly balanced acidity. Powerful, yet beautifully well structured. Still incredibly vibrant. Sangiovese at its finest! This wine has a personality all its own. Flavors of ripe red and black cherries, coffee, black licorice and minerals. Distinct note of forest floor on the long lasting and luxurious finish. Full bodied. Silky tannins and impeccable balance. A very complete and deep wine with so many savory characteristics balanced with deep and not overripe fruit. This is everything I want Sangiovese to be but often it’s a bit too rough and hard and needs aging. This is not that. This is perfect. Went right up against burgundy and some other players trying to hit it out of the park and it really held its own. Extra points for edging out on top in a group of great performers. — 6 years ago

Quite deep garnet , just a hint of ruby and a wide garnet , terracotta rim. Touches of chestnut , dark fruits , earthy liquorice , dry spice and black tea . On the palate this is very classically styled , with dark liquorice tinged blackberry, raspberry , spiced black tea and menthol tinged good long length finish . Balanced acaidity and quite high , grippy tannins. With time this is beginning to show quite well , but will not doubt improve over the next 5 perhaps 10 years and last well a further 10 . 2015:. 9.3-9.4+. Decanted 3 hours. Deep, concentrated dark fruit in a Sicilian package. Big full-bodied Cabernet flavors and terrific mouthfeel make this special. Bit more oak than I’d like (18 months in new barrels) but smooths out with air. Already drinking well but will be knockout after 2 more years. $50 Wine Library. — 6 years ago
