Ermanno Costa (Cascina Spagnolo)

Roero Arneis 2018

Not sure if I've been here before.... This has potential, but needs time... At least.

Flint, ash, rose, white pepper, and only a hint of strawberry on the nose.

More red fruit on the palate, including strawberry and red cherry. Sour red cherry. Tannins are very nice at medium plus. Alcohol at medium plus. Acidity is medium. This can certainly be expected to improve with ageing, but I'm concerned that the fruit is not still dominant at only two years in.

At under $40, you simply can’t go wrong with the Laurent La Cuvée. Rock solidly consistent.

A bit on the soft side at this point. Don’t age much longer. Tasty though. — 8 days ago

Mangan Vineyard Red Blend 2002

Cullen Mangan at 18 years - superbly delicious and reintegrated compared to where it was at 10 years old. The Malbec and Petit Verdot still seem to oxidize at different rates upon opening, but each stop on the train is interesting and delicious. At about an hour out it is scrumptious. Well crafted and worth laying down for a good long while — 2 days ago
