Stunning nose. Slate magnified by a telescope. Slate expression is unreal. Also some sweet plantains and vanilla extract. Blueberry. Some vulcanized rubber. Superb finesse and concentration. Wow the dry extract on this is insane. What a core. So intense and deep. A palate that is slightly confectionary. Just a beast but an elegant beast. One of the best Kabinetts I’ve ever had. Vintage 2015 | Now I understand the reputation of the Doctor. Textbook Riesling. | One anecdote I never forgot. Michael Broadbent wrote that his honeymoon was to the Mosel. History begins in 1885, when Osea Perrone, a doctor in San Francisco's Italian community, bought 180 acres near the top of Monte Bello Ridge in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Blend of 84% Zinfandel, 9% Alicante Bouschet, 7% Petite, aromas of jammy red/black fruits and loads of complex spice. The palate shows flavors of sweet plum and cherry with pepper, smoke, tobacco and herbs. Fine tannins on the grainy side, well balanced long ending with earthy oak. — 4 years ago

Last night we opened the 2019 Château Sérilhan Saint-Estèphe Cru Bourgeois Supérior Médoc. Left Bank Bordeaux blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot by Doctor Alain Reynaud.

On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, black raspberry, black currant, mint, licorice, pencil shavings, cedar and earth.

On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, black currant, green bell pepper, licorice, menthol, graphite and earth.

This is a beautiful medium to full bodied wine with a smooth succulent mouthfeel medium to medium+ acidity and medium + fine grained tannins that leaves you with a medium + to long dark fruit rich earth finish.
