Nose has crushed rock, lit match, fresh lemon zest, green apple peel/flesh, spring honeysuckle blossom and wet steel.
Palate has warmed lemon wedge, lime zest, under-ripe pineapple, faint salinity, barrel notes rich yet steely finish.
Decanted 3H, more time appreciated. — 4 years ago
Nose has orange blossom, candle wax, under-ripe pear, lemon peel and green banana peel.
Palate has lemon wedge, under-ripe pineapple, wax/lanolin with mild sweetness; medium acidity and medium finish.
An acceptable bottle at this extremely youthful age. We bought several of these to hold after a delightful experience with the 2007 vintage last year... Now I just need to forget about them for at least the next 10-15Y, because they need a minimum of 10Y for evolution.

In 10 years I would probably forget about them as well,Opened another bottle first and was extremely disappointed so went to this. Would have given a 9+ but felt like some dill flavoring over powered some of the fruit. Overall enjoyable and will have again. — 6 years ago
Sanlúcar de Barrameda was the port that Christopher Columbus set off from in 1492. Just 1 year earlier, duties on wine exports from Sanlúcar had been abolished to take advantage of English merchants desperate for new supply after the loss of Bordeaux.
It began a centuries-long romance between Sherry and English wine lovers, as immortalized in Shakespeare's Henry IV Part 2, when Falstaff glorifies sturdy Spanish 'sack' over thin Bordeaux 'claret' and Rhine 'hock'.
But the honeymoon, quite literally, was not to last. Henry VIII's divorce from Catherine of Aragon drove a wedge between England and Catholic Europe, and left English wine lovers in need of a new source once again. But Sherry fanatics wouldn't have to go entirely without. When Sir Francis Drake sailed into Cádiz and burned the Spanish fleet in 1587, he carried away 2,900 butts of Sherry - enough to supply London for years - as his most famous prize.

Nose has green melon rind, over-ripe peach, orange pith, pink salt slab, golden raisins, dehydrated apricots and celery leaf; Improvement with extended air.
Palate has dried lemon, candied pineapple, warm clementine orange wedge, peach skin, dehydrated peach, wet sand, medium acidity and finish.
This bottle is in a nice spot today, but not up to par with the Ch. La Rame (outstanding showing) today.
$14 Jul 2015; buy and cellar inexpensive Bordeaux Blanc, be very happy later when the acidity settles...
Hold future bottles 2023-25. — 4 years ago

Just concluded the annual Fall seclusion at our cabin in the Rangeley lakes region of Maine, mobile service up there is mostly non-existent, after several days I am posting again. Notes are somewhat brief, as my focus is relaxing and watching the Common Loons swimming and diving in the cove in front of our camp.
Nose has ripe peach, cut cherries, tangerine peel dry sandstone and moist hay.
Palate has strawberry, peach, lime wedge, tart cherries, dry-sandy soil and a long finish. This bottle is just holding wonderfully and as fate would have us, we're enjoying our last bottle of the vintage. — 6 years ago

3H decant, then double-decant for service.
Really coming into the zone (for my palate) with reduced acidity and secondary dry-ish fruit notes starting to peek out, dried lemon peel, candied tangerine; dried peach, day-old lemon wedge. Note to future self, drink remaining stock 2025-30. 🤞 — 4 years ago
Nose has warmed stone fruits, warmed margarine, green apple peel, moist maple wood and crushed limestone.
Palate has under-ripe tangerine, yellow apple flesh, candied orange, day old lemon wedge, minor barrel influence and light acidity. Gentle in the mouth, very fine bubbles, happy. — 4 years ago

Nose has crushed flint, distant wood smoke, cold pineapple core, lemon curd tart, neutral-ish oak and lemon pith.
Palate has tart/sweet pineapple, lemon wedge, ripe white peach, tangerine peel, rich and round, great finish, great acidity! A long life still ahead for these bottles, at 8 years it's coming into the beginnings of a great drinking window.
You can really appreciate the Puligny-Montrachet & Saint Aubin fruits blended in this wine! — 5 years ago
Blue fruits, touch of cedar on nose. Big with plums and dark chocolate. Bordeaux on steroids, 15.3% ABV! Had with rib eye and wedge salad. — 6 years ago
