2015 | Sauvignon Blanc
Claude Riffault; Les Denisottes
Loire Valley, Sancerre, France

3H decant, then double-decant for service.
Really coming into the zone (for my palate) with reduced acidity and secondary dry-ish fruit notes starting to peek out, dried lemon peel, candied tangerine; dried peach, day-old lemon wedge. Note to future self, drink remaining stock 2025-30. 🀞

Kicking into a long weekend to celebrate our Country πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡² and those who have worked to give me the freedom to enjoy this beautiful wine.

Nose has under-ripe peach, lime peel, limestone paste, lemon pith and faint, green herbs.

Palate has day old cut lemon, warmed peach, wet limestone, dried lemon pith, minor tart acidity with a medium finish.

I still think this bottle is looking for more development. Our last check-in was two years ago, doing well then, about the same tonight.

(Note to future self, decant for 2-3h, the wine is coiled, better with air/patience.)

24 Hour Update: Adding a warmed lemon trait on the nose and palate, but palate picks up a pleasing light sweetness on the finish today. Improvement.

Getting some air, and warming up from a rest in the ice bucket...

I love how this bottle is developing!
Nose is full on yellow peach, fresh cut grass, mineral dust and a new aroma, crushed celery leaf, interesting...
Palate has fading acidy 😊, fresh peach and lemongrass, still fresh and lively with a medium length finish.
We have a few bottles left, looking forward to seeing how this continues to evolve over the next 4-5 years.

On the lawn for Tanglewood this evening, Film Night with Andris Nelsons & John Williams, mostly playing scores from JW scored films, Dracula, E.T., Indiana Jones, Close Encounters, Harry Potter and of course Star Wars!
It's been a while since we checked in on this bottle. Tonight the acidity had finally dropped out and left us with the gorgeous reminants of pure Sancerre, yellow peach, covered in limestone dust. F'n WOTN!
