Charred oak barrel, cinnamon, spice and maple. — 2 years ago
An amazing Sauvignon Blanc with a great potential to age, enticing citrus notes with some powerful yet not overwhelming tropical fruit flavors. Great wood notes make this one very distinctive and expressive white from Sonoma. A bit hazy with some sediments which fall almost into a natural category of wines. However; it’s meant to improve as it ages. A bit not so common for a white from this region. Paired with seafood (salmon and tuna fish). Solid! — 4 months ago

Retail notes,
There’s a sweet-spot for domestic Sauvignon Blanc found in a special part of Bennett Valley that experiences a strong maritime influence as it flows through the Petaluma Gap to Sonoma Mountain. Within that funnel of cooling coastal air, the Dry Stack Vineyard is in a prime location at 550 feet elevation at the base of Mt. Taylor. I’m continually drawn to Sauvignon Blanc from Dry Stack and the vineyard produces fruit with detailed notes of fresh guava, rocky minerals, ripe tangerine and mineral infused citrus. You might be familiar with Russell Bevan’s version from Dry Stack, and Grey Stack has been a pillar on our tasting list in Yountville.
With Grey Stack, everything begins in the Vineyard with exceptional quality fruit, but from there, the wine is given a voice by winemaker Patrick Sullivan, whose experience includes making wine at Peter Michael, Paul Hobbs, Lewis Cellars and Rudd. This is absolutely one of the finest examples of California Sauvignon Blanc with its superior focus and incredibly vivid, distinctive flavors. If you love Sauvignon Blanc, or better yet, even if you don’t… Try this one and you’ll probably never look back. — 4 years ago
Never had a poor bottle. At the price, possibly the best SB out there. Although I understand that the winemaker is a “character.” Got these cheap, so I bought them, but otherwise, I drink other SB’s. These wines have longevity - this is as fresh and vibrant as a spring daisy 🌼 — 7 months ago
Nose has ash covered blackcurrants, crushed black cherries, oak firewood stack, blackberry cordial and dried sage.
Palate has clay covered blackberry, dried black cherry, dried blackcurrants, anise, fine tannins with slight saline notes to the medium finish.
A very nice effort, double decanted then 24H rest, based on others notes this wine needed a wide berth and I'm very pleased with the outcome.

This wine is aging gracefully. Secondary and tertiary notes coming to the fore. Floral/spicy nose that is so fragrant. The cherry has turned dark, supported by more spice, clove, cinnamon. Truly an excellent wine. — 3 months ago
