Very nice Lemberger, in its prime. Rich yet lean, very dry with pronounced acidity. A hint of Italian influence, with its tannins and a slightly bitter note on the finish. — 5 years ago

All hail Germany’s Weingut Mann, from Eckelsheim. 2018 Cuvée Rot. 50% Merlot. 50% *Dornfelder. 100% would drink again. Good concentration, strong color with a gentle tannic grip and surprisingly only 11% alcohol. Worthy of cellaring. A brilliant “natural wine” with the ability to woo the naysayers. A wine that could shake off the title of “natural” like a wet dog, knowing it has the integrity to simply be, a good wine, without having to shout out its resume. Confident this would please many people, on either side of the fence. Would love to taste again in two years.
*Dornfelder is a dark-skinned variety of grape of German origin used for red wine. It was created by August Herold at the grape breeding institute in Weinsberg in the Württemberg region in 1955. Herold crossed the grape varieties Helfensteiner and Heroldrebe, the latter which bears his name, to create Dornfelder. Via Wikipedia ;) — 5 years ago
Do i know the Grape YES named after the poet Justinus Kerner. A cross of a red grape Trollinger and Riesling from the Weinsberg Wein Institut. I got super drunk there trying 25 wines in the 80’s a trip with my fraternity - Kaffir lime. Touch of peach and green mango (no petrol ⛽️ so this is bs from some other friends). Grapefruit zest. Quite topical! A SUPER deal!!!!!!!!🦋🦋🦋🦋. Seems to do super well in Tirol / Alto Adige but losing his footprint in Germany. — 7 years ago
Phenomenal Auslese from this out-of-the-way Staatsweingut Trier vineyard. Pale green-gold sheen of a very young wine. Beautifully pungent yet delicately nuanced nose of raw unripe grape juice and pips, peach kernel, Chinese gooseberries, dragonfruit, and dandelions; stunning concentration of flavours on the palate with crushing layers of musky fruit and incredible knife-sharp acidity. This excellent example of the '83 vintage just goes to show how nowhere in the world even comes close to the M-S-R! — 8 years ago
Pinotman /// Andreas
A big wine. Sells for 60 Euros which is steep and at 14,5% it clocks in. Cherry, non offensive and just too nice. For sure a Pinot on the top of its game. But for me it does not really provide a sense of place like for example the ones from Enderle & Moll. — 3 years ago
