Singing Hills Red, Columbia Valley. Second label of Reininger, Mattawa WA. Damn good table wine at a great value. Nothing online about this label or the grapes in this non-vintage blend, but their main label has excellent wines. These are the barrels and tanks that didn’t make the cut, presumably. I taste Syrah and Sangiovese in there, but Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Grenache could be in the mix with other Bordeaux varietals. Slight skin astringency on finish with white and black pepper notes. Healthy acidity with cherry-berry flavors, floral and herbal aromas as well. Well blended — 2 years ago
Cabernet Sauvignon (76%) with some Merlot (21%) and Petite Verdot (3%). Really a Walla Walla Bordeaux Blend. Aromas and flavors of black currants, plums and dark cherry. Additional notes of cocoa, minerals and dried rose petals. Hints of eucalyptus, baking spices and earth. Gripping tannins that are balanced with some nice acidity. Deep ruby color. Good stuff. — 4 years ago
Pepper city. Still a little young and fruit forward but very yummy. — 5 years ago
Old Road Cellars, second label of Reininger. Singing Hills white wine, Columbia Valley. Blend of Marsanne, Roussanne and Sauvignon Blanc. Pale white, excellent clarity. Hints of white floral, tropical and orchard fruit in nose. Soft, creamy, dry, Meyer lemon and orchard fruit finish. Better for sipping, not sure on food pairings. Nice blending here, great value and a bit of style too; give it 20 minutes to open and don’t overchill — 2 years ago
In the glass this wine is deep dark burgundy with slightly orange-tinged halo. It smells masculine and earthy with hints of pepper, cedar, blueberries and anise seed. The wine goes down easy even with the noticeable presence of rich tannins. The balance is nice, keeping it interesting as the finish lingers. I taste oak-y dark cherries with an aftertaste of black licorice. I think this is some good medicine. I need another dose. — 4 years ago
