This is a bottle to drink upon opening. I felt that it lost the smooth earthy flavor the longer it was open. It was very reflective of the region it comes from. — 4 years ago
Quite pale Lemon considering its age. Funky solids musty aromas. Medium bodied medium acid with grapefruit notes on palate and reasonable length. A good Chardonnay from this premium Adelaide Hills producer. From cousins Shaw and Smith - Michael Hill-Smith was Australia’s first Master of Wine. Have spread their wings to Tasmania with the premium Tolpuddle. — 4 years ago
Complex, brooding and reflective of a solid vintage! Pointed acid attacks quickly, then gives way to impressive tannins that are fine grain and reach high - filling the roof with wonder & amazement. Lamb burgers, np!! — 2 years ago
@Delectable Wine This is the Nik Weis Gefen Hashalom Ockfener Saar Riesling. This is a special Kosher bottling of a beautiful Kabinett Riesling, fresh and juicy with tropical fruit/tart pineapple and mineral on the back. — 4 years ago

Tasting the 1990 Léoville Las Cases just a few days after the 1989, it is clear which is the best vintage…this one. It has a sublime nose of melted black fruit, tar, cedar and bay leaf that shrugs off the heat of that summer better than most others. At 33 years of age, you could just lose yourself in these aromatics. The palate is clearly holding up well: beautifully defined and supple yet with typical Las-Cases backbone and depth. It builds magnificently in the glass toward a harmonious finish that reminds me of the 1985 in terms of its fleshiness. Wonderful. Tasted at the Lia's Wings/book dinner at Medlar restaurant.
