Château Simard

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

Black currant, red forest fruits, licorice, irony wet and heavy soil. The palate is well done with a strong acid backbone, some black currant on the sides, some nice velvetty touch on the sides. This is not very wide nor very powerful but it rolls in the mouth. The tannins are fully integrated now and leave room for a tanguy, fruity finish with a pinch of bitterness. This is simple and well done but I expected a bit more structure and power considering the vintage. — 17 days ago

Château Cheval Blanc

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 1985

En magnum, gifted to us 31 years ago by our dear NYC friends when we were moving to Northern California. This was close to perfect, great balance of fruit and tannin and acid, impossibly long finish, simply a FANTASTIC bottle of Cheval Blanc!! WOW!!!!! — 11 days ago

Château Canon

Croix Canon Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 2012

rich old world Bordeaux. Purple centre/red rim with deep hue. intense aroma of crane de cassis, blueberry, blackberry, cedar, coffee, vanilla, touch of forest floor. Dry, mid acidity and mid ample/ripen tannin. Drinking window is already open, and still can evolve. Great Value.

Notes from the Winemaker:
Croix Canon is crafted with precision and care. In the cellar, the gravity-flow fermenting room allows for gentle yet thorough extraction. Made primarily from Merlot grapes with some Cabernet Franc, the wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 10% of which is new.

Tasting Notes:
The nose is fresh, delicate and fruity. The palate is silky with an intense aromatic expression and firm tannin structure. A long and graceful finish displays the balance and poise which define Croix Canon.

Food Pairing:
Match this wine at cellar temperature to a variety of dishes based on red meat or pair with ripe cheeses.

Varietal composition: 95% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc

Château Beau-Séjour Bécot

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

Estate named Beau-Séjour in 1787 by General Jacques de Carle, proprietor at the time. Michel Bécot bought estate from Dr Jean Fagouet in 1969 increasing vines from 10.5 hectares to 15, acquiring Trois Moulins plateau in 1979, kept the name Beau-Séjour Bécot. Blend of 87% Merlot, 9% Cab Sauv & 4% Cab Franc. Nice berry aromas, ripe cherry & fresh raspberry flavors with notes of sweet cacao & tobacco adding some toasty notes. Firm tannins, not overpowering, lingering ending with tangy sweet oak.Tasting Sample. — 24 days ago

Still youthful...I am not sure about the other ratings or experiences, but this wine was full of dark fruits, chocolate, and coffee/espresso. Saving my last bottle for at least 3-5 more years — 3 months ago
