Today I had the pleasure of having the 2013 Gaja Brunello di Montalcino Pieve Santa Restituta Sugarille.
On the nose there was cherry, raspberry, plum, anise, balsamic, herbs, dried roses, leather and crushed brick.
On the palate were notes of cherry, black raspberry, plum, licorice, balsamic, leather and a hint of oak.
A well made wine that is full bodied with medium + acidity and high mouth coating sandy tannins that moves wonderfully into a long red fruit brick dust finish. A beautifully structured wine that is well balanced. Have a wonderful weekend stay healthy and safe and be kind to one another. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 14 days ago
There is a bit of caramel, licorice and cherry with some rose petal scent on this nose. A wide spectrum of scents and feelings to associate it with. The palate is really easy going with a good acid drive, rather straight forward, some matter, some grip on the sides, a spherical mid palate and tannins which tend to expand it and make it wider before a finish with red fruit notes and a fresh after taste that last for a while. Second attempt with this wine in this vintage and it clearly leads me to dig dipper into bardolinos. — 5 months ago
Everything you’d want in an amarone. Burst of flavor at the beginning that then settles back into a relaxed, elegant finish. On the palate, some black plum mixed with a very faint dried cranberry or cherry. It all resolved into a wonderfully balanced finish, that is almost floral, but it’s more deep and complex than just floral. — 7 months ago
Sipping this delightful Prosecco while enjoying Andrea Bocelli as he presents “Music for Hope” live from the Duomo di Milano. As we all pray for hope during this terrible scourge. The wine is an 8.4 but our collective resolve is a 10. Cheers 🥂🇮🇪🇺🇸🇨🇦 — 7 months ago
One of Angelo Gaja’s two Tuscan properties, is on the site of an old church, Santa Restituta, which dates back to the 4th century. Deep Ruby with pronounced aromas of ripe berry fruits and floral notes. On the palate flavors of juicy cherry and raspberry with cacao, cedar spice and gentle pepper spice. Fine tannins, great balance, complex long finish ending with earthy herbs, fruit and oaky notes. Nice! Tasting Sample! — a month ago

Notes of black cherry with hint of anise atop a slight hint of brighter fruit, likely due to the combo of dried and fresh crushed fruit. Elegant texture, medium finish. — 8 months ago
