Saint-Joseph Syrah 2014

Lovely wine in a decent vintage. Black fruit and savory first, floral notes are less prominent. Paired well with duck and beef but there isn’t much meat I wouldn’t want to drink this with. — 16 days ago

Check out the color changing butterfly on the back label, it's a different color when the wine is warm vs serving temp.

Côte de Brouilly Gamay

Boisterous, dark fruited, large scaled, definitely showing the heat of the vintage. Some brett and VA coupled with the high alcohol (just doesnt work for beaujolais imo) made for a problematic wine. On the 4th, maybe 5th day, things came together a bit but I was expecting more elegance although this producer does churn out some rustic wines. Tricky vintage I suppose. — 17 hours ago

Les Grillés Côte de Brouilly Gamay 2017

What a beast. Brooding and dark, savory. Wound up but there a deep core of crushed black brambly fruit, compote, crushed volcanic rocks, hot stones, pink peppercorn, cool licorice, juniper, fern, taffy. Needs some time just to unwind — 19 days ago

Creux Brouillard Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir 2017

Beautiful nose. Gorgeous well balanced structure. Powerful dark fruit with a solid mineral base. I imagine how it would have been had i given the bottle a few more years to age let alone a few hours to breath. Bottle 20 of 290. I might go back for another one or two. ##thankgivinginparis #geverychambertin — 13 days ago

Bourgogne Chardonnay 2016

@delectable Pierre brisset Bourgogne Chardonnay. Not the Cassaneas

I wish I’d had this blind. I likely would have guessed elite village puligny. It only lacks the density to be better than that. Still an absolutely masterful wine. Under the laws of god and nature this should not be Bourgogne blanc. Yet it is.

Nose is dictionary perfect balance. Some seashell. Mineral. Ephemeral. Orchid (I have no idea what that actually smells like but picture something perfectly beautiful).

Palate is mineral. A hint of salt. A mere hint of apricot flower. A hint of green apple. Hard to describe because it’s all interwoven. Amazing texture. Flits by the palate but gently alerts one to its presence like a silk scarf brushing ones cheek.

lingering elegance on the palate.

I’d give this a higher score but it’s Bourgogne blanc so how high can I score it ? For what it is it’s a 10. Maybe an 11.

... as this opens it even has some good density. My god. ... more on the 1er cru side after 3 hours. Richer. More apparent fruit.

Touraine Sauvignon 2018

I’d honestly forgotten that Sauvignon Blanc can have personality. This is the second in a week that’s made my brain tingle. Accented by pronounced viscosity and texture are ripe juicy orchard fruits - the softest pears and ripe red delicious thick skinned apples. — 4 days ago
