Day and intense. Dried herbs, blood and deep fruit. Gorgeously savory and delicious and fresh. Spectacular. Definition and structure. Lots of class — 3 months ago
Earthy and not giving away much initially, was worried after 20 mins. By 30 it blossomed, full on cassis and vanilla tannins, undergrowth. Dark red fruit, Rutherford dust. Notwithstanding a Bordeaux vibe there was no mistaking this for anything but a high-end Napa cab. Awesome one at that. I wouldn’t wait much longer… — 24 days ago

Good blend. A little sweet initially but balanced out after it breathed a little. Overall nice wine but enjoyed even more at the Joseph Phelps winery. Great ambience and even better friends. — 2 months ago

Deep ruby coloration. On the nose, dark cherry, chocolate, coffee. On the palate, lots of berries, chocolate, oak, vanilla, warm spices, strong tannins. Full body. Medium finish. — a month ago
Ruby red color with aromas of ripe fruits and baking spice, sourced from several vineyards, the wine was aged for 15 months in 55% new and 45% 2-3 year French Oak. On the palate flavors of strawberry and ripe plum with vanilla, baking spice, lively acidity and fine tannins. Long finish, nice mouthfeel, ending with warming cedar spice character. — 2 months ago

Double decanted two nights before service. The 2013 Insignia pours a deep garnet color with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with significant staining of the tears and some signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing but still quite youthful with notes of tart and ripe dark fruit: dense brambles, purple flowers, tobacco, vanilla and baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. At 11 years of age, this remains tightly coiled and needs more time to open up and tell more of its story. All that being said, this is very good now…but to my palate, better after 2027 and through 2043. — 17 days ago
