Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

1hr+ decant. Dark red color with subtle bricking. Complex nose of massive blue fruit with caramel and cedar. Same on the palate with subtle tea. Medium plus depth and finish. Bottles like this are why I’ve been buying this every year for over a decade. — 19 days ago

Really incredible and dense. Thought it was excellent and took about 2 hrs to open. So much excellent dirt. — a month ago

2005. Perhaps a bit past its prime. But still excellent. Morphed to a chalky sense on the palate. Still loved it. — 2 months ago

@Jan A, just a question — when you talk about it being better in a Day 3, are you using anything to preserve it (Coravin, etc.?), or just “cork back in the bottle and leave it on the counter”, or ??? Just curious, asking only from a personal calibration standpoint!! Thanks in advance!! 🍷🍷

Hi Doug, I drank a couple of glasses on day one, put the corck back on and put it in the fridge at 4 degrees celcius. Had a dinner party at friends on day two (didn't drink any of this wine) and came back to it on day three. Still standing fierce. Just a softer, opened up version of the youngish wine on day one. Very well made and a very good qpr.

Thanks for the feedback @Jan A -a your method is what I used to do, we rarely have much left over, so I usually don’t worry as much about oxidation in the leftover bottle!! 🤔🤷😂🍷

Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2022

2/2026. I’m not a big Pinot fan but this is nice. Flavor, slight boldness and sits well on the palate. Paired well with the stone crab claws at Halls Chophouse — a month ago

Hermitage Syrah 2014

Amazing Syrah. Earth, leather, tar, smooth tannins, long finish, blackberry, accompanied by a powerful nose. Ready to drink without decanting. This is the gold capsule version. Worth its $95 price tag. — 23 days ago
