Classic de la valle type Cab — 10 days ago
Tart cherry, red fruit, medium minus acid, heat, slight smoke, chalk, medium tannins — a month ago
It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Inky in color with a reddish rim.
Strong nose of black fruits with chocolate notes, cedar, vanilla, tobacco, Indian spices and licorice.
Full-bodied and elegant with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, licorice, vanilla, chocolates, tobacco, spices, peppercorn, coffee, cola and herbs.
Long spicy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This is another terrific wine from the problematic 2020 vintage in Napa Valley. Nicely balanced, complex and smooth. Elegant with a great mouthfeel.
Rich, extracted and in your face kind of wine. The nose is really gorgeous at this point.
Drinking beautifully now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 7 years.
Good right out of the bottle, and better after 90 minutes in the decanter. Good by itself as a sipping wine.
A blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot. Organic.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
93 points.

Cool with coastal climate salts, muted dried strawberries and rose petals and cherry mint that need a real sniff. Refined with mid level expression, med rustic body, subtle nuance and concentration/structure that shows itself mostly in the mouth.
Lovely, not extraordinary. — 2 months ago
2014, Screaming Eagle 2nd Label is a treat for sure. Color is a semi murky garnet purple. Nose - dark fruits, meaty, herbaceous menthol with floral notes, truffle, and a subtle vanilla kick at the end. Taste - black cherry and plum dominate. Concentrated and well structured, smooth and mouth coating giving it its elegant appeal. Secondary notes of mocha java, black pepper and a cedar graphite adding to its medium plus finish. — 2 months ago

2021 vintage. Bigg and faux chunky up front and goes-medium bod (vs medium-heavy because of the taut/lean laser tannins). Not gratuitous yet not the most difficult to love. Needs some time and 2-5 years to get its act together and pay off some parking tickets/youthful indiscretions. 7.17.24. — 9 days ago
