Sublime. One of the most delicious wines I’ve had in years. Silky and perfumed, earthy and fruity; California power melded with Old World sophistication. Enjoyed the 2007 vintage with my wife Dreama at kaiseki temple Hayato in LA, part of my ongoing days long birthday celebration. A privilege and a pleasure. — 3 months ago
To celebrate my 9,000 reviews on vivino, here is a beautiful Pinot Noir.
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Strong fruity nose with bing cherries, raspberries, sweet strawberries, spices, oak, vanilla, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, earth and black pepper.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blueberries, black cherries, light earth, herbs, spices, vanilla, cedar, black pepper, light cola, dark coffee and licorice. black pepper.
Medium plus in finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This Pinot Noir from Burgundy is already drinking very nicely, but still extremely young. Well balanced and smooth with nice complexity and mouthfeel.
I had it blind right out of the bottle. That was a nice surprise. I called 2018 Burgundy Pinot Noir, but I did not see this kind of bottle coming... What a great experience to blind taste such an iconic wine.
There is always an aura when drinking these kind of wines, but drinking them blind, gives you a perspective that might be missed otherwise.
Needed 2 hours in the decanter to open up properly, and bring more complexity. Much better once it opens up.

I had an older vintage of this wine a year ago, and it is such a different wine. Will continue to age nicely in the next 30 to 40 years.
13.5% alcohol by volume.

This IS Santa Barbara County Pinot! First taste was a big burst of fruit. Not too sweet, not simple and unsophisticated, not a jammy Zin bomb, mind you. Instead, more like a zing of bright, pure, winey fruit. Remarkable and memorable. We had the 2022 vintage in a magnum bottle so perhaps that helped preserve its freshness and purity. We enjoyed this Big Mama at the Palm Restaurant in downtown LA, celebrating my daughter Rachel’s graduation from UCLA Law School. Congratulations, Rachel! — 6 days ago

This is sooo pretty. Light pink in color, the nose is so seductive. Pretty floral notes, cherry, dried flowers. Wildly complex and intense on the nose but so light and ethereal. The palate is lifted and pretty with raspberry, delicate spice and classic vosne flavors. This wine is so poised and pretty and ready to drink. Light but powerful. Fantastic — 3 months ago

Second from right. Beats red burgundies with ease…The 2022’s red and whites might be the best vintage they ever made. The whites are creative and unique - but the reds just floored me. Like a 1er Cru Gevrey Chambertin but better. Much better. Deep dark cherry galore, but also spice and it improved with oxidation over 48 hours, hints of lime, bark, just a touch of pine needles…fantastically framed at this point by high amounts at tannins. Even this mid level wine blowed my socks off. With a sense of place which the chiseled and fine tuned wines in Burgundy have lost. — 2 days ago
