Cheers to my 6,000th review on Vivino. A Big milestone deserves a big wine. This was on my wishlist for a while now. Go big or go home!
Deep inky in color with a short brick rim. Unbelievable. Not showing age at all.
Fruity nose of blackberries, blueberries, black currants, chocolates, tobacco, mocha, leather, earth, Mediterranean spices, beef jerky, peppercorn, cedar, leather, vanilla and licorice.
Full bodied, bold, smooth and elegant, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, sweet plums, vanilla, cedar, light vegetables, spices, smoke, tobacco, chocolates, coffee, cola, pencil lead and peppercorn.
Long finish with firm tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a wonderful Cabernet Sauvignon based, Bordeaux blend from Napa Valley. Showing great complexity and a great mouthfeel. Big with bold tannins. Delicious and yummy.
This 19 year old is drinking very nicely now, and really shows like a young wine. Has at least 15 years in it.
After 3 hours of airtime, forest floor notes come in on the nose. Tasting like an aged left bank Bordeaux.
Wine Advocate 100 points.
This is a Fabulous wine to share with good friends. Very enjoyable by itself or with food. I paired it with BBQ ribs.
Thank you John, for sharing this phenomenal wine with me.
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
14.5% alcohol by volume.

Nothing like celebrating xmas eve with this 07. Been saving for a special occasion. — 7 years ago

Two surprises today. Tammy announcing her final year as Meridian’s Mayor and .....an absolutely phenomenal wine to recognize this decision and milestone in her career. Deep dark complex tannins that lingered for ever. Dark mineral juice wrung from grapes from the Garden of Eden. They came together so smooth, so balanced. One of the absolute best! I was given this bottle at a milestone birthday 10 years ago and drank it to celebrate another milestone birthday. Given that I rarely have the patience to wait for my wine to arrive at its next place, I was really looking forward to having this one. It was terrific. Deep integrated flavors and a softening tannin structure that has given way to a deeply satisfying experience. Very much enjoyed this and can see why this wine gets high marks year in and year out. — 6 years ago
Wow. I’ve waited a long time to try my first Tondonia (surely this is a milestone for any budding wine collector, no?), having held onto this 2002 for a while and having a case or two of Heredia’s more recent vintages downstairs.
Such was the anticipation for trying this Rioja stalwart that I was almost nervous that it wouldn’t live up to it - especially with 2002 being such a rotten vintage for Spain’s flagship wine region. But this was staggeringly youthful, piercingly savoury with a gentle balance of tannin & acidity but all the supple features of an old school, aged Rioja. This is really special stuff. — 7 years ago
Worthy of my fiancé ‘s milestone birthday dinner party, I remember debating whether or not to invest in “Old Sparky” 10 years ago. So glad we have more in the cellar as this extremely well balanced cab has many more years in the bottle. — 8 years ago
One of the best Chateauneuf’s I’ve ever tasted. Definitely a wine tasters milestone for me... — 8 years ago
It’s smooth but “I don’t get it”. Finishing after opening 2 nights ago, and no changes. Italian fare then homemade Japanese. Kind of a neat cherry grape soda effect, but ... I suppose not as milestone-in-drinking-life as I expected. — 5 years ago
It's pretty darn good, I got it for 7.99 — 5 years ago
A milestone birthday requires some fun wines! 1st bottle to polish off is a 2008 Marcassin chard with Hog Island oysters, butter poached lobster, and shrimp.
Double decant for fine cloudy sediment. An irresistible medium gold color.. On the nose: nectarines, pineapple, vanilla toast, lemon, and crushed rocks. Taste: so gooood after 12 years. A slightly creamy wine with carmalized pear, wet stones, lemon peel, and a mineral peach long finish with good acidity. — 6 years ago

Our final bottle in the case of 2006 Carmelo Patti’s legendary Cabernet. Drinking to celebrate a huge savings milestone for us that we’ve been working towards for a couple years. 😃🍷
The cork completely disintegrated so had to do my best filtering job on this one.
Color: ruby center with browning edges. a beautiful faded musty looking glass of wine.
Nose: getting a lot of stewed fruits on the nose. really deep cedar / cigar box and some leather. maybe some coffee as well. a very bordeaux style nose.
Palate. Oh my god is this good. Still such vibrant fruit, black plum mixed with some mocha and dusty old leather. Really lengthy finish. A soulful glass of wine, very old world. — 7 years ago
For my 1K milestone, I selected one of our Napa faves...
My wife described the nose as “masculine,” and she’s spot on. Loads of cinnamon interplay with barrel toast and charcoal.
Palette is ethereal as the wine has shed its puppy fat. Now displays cloves, white pepper and ripe berries. Finishes with hints of caramel. This can be cellared for another 10 years, easily.
