Drank 5/22/19. Decent paiting with grilled lamb chops.
Fragrant nose of violets, rose petals, cherry, and a hint of truffle. A slight, musty library book scent blows off after an hour. Muted palate, with tar, earth, red and black cherry that are backed by firm tannins, which are still quite aggressive at 9 years of age. Long, dry finish dominated by tar and sour cherry. . This improved after a couple of hours. It is drinkable, but I would decant, or age another 2-5 years.

Light gold with a good jolt of metallic acid that keeps the white peach, pineapple and apricot in check. Some white pepper and briny notes hiding in the background, as well. Medium body and finish. — 17 days ago

Drank 3/25/19. Paired with Rigatoni Bolognese.
Red cherry earth, and leather on the nose. Similar flavors on the palate, with some firm, but well integrated tannins. Sour cherry on the long finish.
I love Italian wines, but could not pick this from sangiovese if tasted blind. A nice chianti alternative.
