Barolo Nebbiolo 2015

Cherry, rose petals and rosehip on the nose. A bit oaky, spicy but not very complex. Drinkable right now. — 5 days ago

Centobricchi Langhe Bianco 2017

This 100% Viognier is a star bright green gold. Old bananas and fresh white flowers on the abundant nose. Full bodied complex palate yields all sorts of stuff: banana, magnolia petal, underripe and overripe tropical fruits, white pepper, white peach, and on and on. Finish is medium long and doesn’t fade into that darkness typical of many white Rhône varieties. Medium minus acidity, of course. This is classic Viognier. Very varietally typical in every way. Enjoy on its own or with rich “white wine” dishes , especially cream sauces or roasts poultry. Drink now through 2022. — 2 months ago

I don’t think I’ve ever had a Viognier from Italy!sounds interesting.

@Winston Jones - I’m finding that the regions close to “other places” (Alto Adige, Piemonte, Valle d’Osta, Lombardia) do remarkably well with varieties from those “other places.” Piemonte isn’t that far from the Rhône. I got a Condrieu in this month’s WFL case. Should be an interesting comparison.

Legattere Barbera d'Alba Superiore 2017

Ruby colour with a light garnet on the rim. The nose is well pronounced, full of fruit character, blackberries, raspberries, fig, plum, has some flower aromas too, violet, dried roses and spiciness, vanilla, clove and a touch of black pepper. In the palate is very expensive, the mouthfeeling is dry, moderately tannic, high in acidity, medium bodied, long finish. The wine has a very nice complexity and a very good structure, ready to drink with potentiality to improve, within 7 to 10 years.
Pairing: great with beef stews, cold meats, mushroom pasta, matured cheeses semi-hard to hard.

Il Bergantino Barbera d'Asti

Vintage 2016 | wagonloads of nice fruit: black cherries, blackberries, dark forrest fruit, plums. Hint of spices. Incredibly beautiful integrated barrel aging. Laurel. Fine wine indeed. — a month ago

Moscato d'Asti

Pale gold with tiny persistent bubbles. Inviting nose and palate of ripe golden apples, ripe peaches, and clover honey. Light and fizzy on the tongue. Sweet (of course) but balanced with refreshing acidity. Short-ish finish, but you’re likely taking another sip before that matters. The gold standard for Moscato. A lovely treat on its own, with fresh fruit, or with lightly sweet dessert crepes. Also a great pair with the exceptionally spicy dishes that my dining partner likes to make (remember, “Sweet beats heat!”). Stop fronting. You know that you like this stuff. Drink now. — a month ago

Zerolegno Barbera del Monferrato

Vintage 2017 / needs some time in decanter. Very, very fruity expression in smell with lots of cherries, a hint of raspberry. Palate is spicy and to my surprise also chocolate. Full bodied wine. Attractive Barbera made with the aim to explore the fruit. With 3% less alcohol I would be delirious. / Paired with Spaghetti with lentils. — 2 months ago
