A Barbera that lacks balance, sadly. Nice price point at Costco, but this Red has a bit too much vanillin and oak, a sappy blue-fruit nose, and herbaceous acidity… not in a good way. Other vintages seem to get better reviews, so perhaps we had an off bottle.

Was recommended by kokeman for crispy duck Christmas dinner. Drank at Birocco’s with potato pancakes. A little dry but tasty. Not full bodied like American wines.

Good wine but just not my cup of tea due to strong flinty taste. Wouldn’t buy again.
