Short decant. Amazed at the quality after seeing an almost black cork and a very low fill level. Wouldn’t be craving a glass, but for a wine this old it was consumable with a few in the party really enjoying it. Garnet, almost brown in color. Leather and stewed fruit dominate. — 2 years ago

WOW, what a pleasant surprise! We received this wine as a gift, so we did not expect much. We were wrong, wonderful wine. Thick long lasting legs. Deep dense color. Wonderful nose, rich with plum, prune oaks and very fruit forward. Lots of flavor. The plum/prune notes were wonderful. Very smooth with lite oak notes on the finish. Very low tannins. Notes of pear and pear skins on nose and palate. Rich and unctuous with hints of honey. Flavours fill every corner of the mouth. Low acid. Great match with smoked cod No point in further cellaring - delicious now. Will look to drink more Condrieu in the future - love Viognier. — 7 years ago

An excellent bang for the buck! Personally, I find Californian CSs to be the best in the world. This is a low end example and it’s still great! Blackberry and dark cherry with hints of toast and spice. Not very long aftertaste though. But definitely a great every-day wine. — 8 years ago

Tried 6mos ago. Began 1916, Juan Gil Giménez, great-grandfather of present generation, built winery in heart of Jumilla. Blue label spent 18 months in new oak (wine formally known as 18 mos representing time in bottle, now “Blue Label.” Monastrell, Cab Sauv & Syrah blend (60/30/10), low yield, aromas of red berry and toasty oak. Palate shows flavors of dark berry fruits, espresso, cacao and hints of sweet spice. Big dusty tannins, well integrated with oak, lingering, well balanced. Aged well, still going! — 6 years ago

Cloudy pale to mid gold in colour. A skins contact, white wine fermented in Clay Amphora in Sicily. Aromas of apricot, orange blossom and a little white pepper. On the palate a lot going on - full flavoured at only 12.0% alcohol and low acid - apricots and cumquat with the skins bitterness to finish off. Unique and an absolute mouthful of flavour. Can’t see any reason for cellaring it. — 7 years ago
