Lost Mountain Red Bordeaux Blend 2017

Delicious, but definitely not quite in it’s prime. After a few more years this will be a star. The rendezvous is showing off now - I want to revisit this in a few years. I get strong notes of tobacco, herbs, and smoke balanced with some black cherry. Stronger acidity than than the rendezvous. This would make a great dinner wine! — 24 days ago

Casa Silva

Los Lingues Vineyard Carménère 2018

MICHAEL COOPER
8.9

I much prefer the basic Casa Silva #Carmenere over this one. This is deep in color and ripe on the nose and palate, but it has gone too far into wanting to be super silky and super ripe. It has lost the texture and the terroir for me. I also don’t like the milky, creamy diacetyl/lactic finish. Good but not great. #chile #colchagua #colchaguavalley #cordillera — 21 days ago

Domaine Tempier

Cuvée Spéciale Cabassaou Bandol Mourvedre Blend 1999

Still wild. Smashing an hour out of the bottle, lost some power with a couple hours open. Probably past peak. — a month ago

Domaine Comte Senard

Corton-Renardes Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2001

Old wine..has lost some fruit..dried red fruit, leather, tobacco, savory, tomato leaf, black tea, acid still hanging on...actually quite delicious...Les Bressands Grand Cru from Aloxe Corton, not real familiar with producer, but good stuff with some meat left.. — 5 days ago

Del Dotto Vineyards

The Beast Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

2012 Del Dotto The Beast. A special occasion purchase having tasted it in barrel. A reminder of how far my palate has evolved away from high alcohol heavily oaked Napa red. Still nice, but the 15.8% and sweet oak dominates. All the complexities of the various sites (the whole concept of this wine) is lost imho. I want more earth, mineral, and acidity to remain. — 23 days ago

Himmel Auf Erden Rosé Blend 2018

Crushed vitamins watermelon dog sweat. Not the greatest. Tasted better on day 2. Lost the crushed vitamin watermelon thing and had nice texture and freshness/balance. — a month ago

Grand cru vintage Champagne Blend

Grand cru - vintage - yum.

Smells of fresh corn biscuits with a lot of yeast.
Granny Smith - classic, tangerine acidity. Tight and lengthy bubbles.
Citrusy finish and lengthy.. happily lost in thought..

Unidentified

We are identifying this wine.

18.5 label lost. But cork confirmed vintage. From the deep ruby robe with only slight garnet at rim, to the pepper and all things good on the nose, to a never-ending finish, this is a wine to remember. — 14 days ago

Hayne Vineyard Petite Syrah 2013

2020 is a strange year and my experience with this still young Petite Syrah fit that trend. Normally, I’d expect a big wine with decades of cellar potential like this one to be reserved at first and then open with air, especially when opened this early in its lifecycle. This one came out on the first sip like gangbusters — perfumed, tons of dark berries and currants, lavender and minerality with surprisingly soft tannins. Wow! But instead of opening up even more, it gradually disappeared and lost much of it character — from outstanding to good in the course of a dinner. Still looking forward to checking in on it — or having my kids do so — 10, 20 and even 40 years from now — 5 days ago
