I’m not selling my white Burgundy but I understand your point. It is an enjoyable heady wine.

Wednesday random cellar pick. Good. Was expecting some sharpness but there was none. Super smooth and enjoyable. This is the easy drinking kind of wine I like to pair with Italian food. — 4 months ago

Lieu-Dit Saint Joseph Marsanne Roussanne 2016

2026: Lush, full-bodied Rhône Syrah. Lots of typical black fruits, herbs and distinctive black olive undertones. Subtle tannins - this is drinking well and leans toward smoothness and complexity over power. $70 at WT. — 2 months ago

Rich and sweet fruit. 16%. Slightly hot, no? But oddly balanced. Tannins are there but sweet fruit overwhelms this. Ditto acid. Pretty hedonistic. 2019 — 4 months ago

Le Haut-Lieu Demi-Sec Vouvray Chenin Blanc 2007

Love the demi-sec style—paired beautifully with a fresh produce-forward dinner. Lots of peach and apricot, honey, pronounced lime pith, fresh flowers and grass, and plentiful acid, stone and a sort of savory bitterness that balances the RS — 6 months ago

Lieu dit La Dardouille Saint-Joseph Syrah 2021

Popped and poured; enjoyed over two days and consistent throughout. The 2021 “La Dardouille” pours a bright purple color with a near transparent core. Medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, youthful with a bucket of fresh, darker fruits: blackberries, dark cherry, plum, and blue berries with purple flowers, black pepper, dried earth, minerals and some light baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium(+?) tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose with the black pepper really showing more prominently. Long, mineral finish. All of that being said, the elegance of this wine is arguably its most distinctive characteristic. This is a very light-handed Saint-Joseph and its transparency is a gift. Very pretty stuff. Drink now to enjoy its youthful beauty but some patience will likely reward as I expect this will flesh out. Drink through 2036. Thanks for the assist @Lyle Fass — 2 months ago
