#AgedWineTuesday

Dark inky in color with a reddish rim.

Nose of black currants, plums, cooked cherries, light mildew, earth, herbs, spices, tobacco leaf, dark coffee, light forest floor and black pepper.

Full-bodied and elegant with medium acidity and long legs.

Very dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, tobacco leaf, herbs, peppercorn, earth, dried meats, black tea and light vegetables.

Short finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.

This 19 year old Syrah from Northern Rhône is still drinking nicely, although definitely not at its peak anymore.

Not in your face kind of wine at this point. Elegant, with nice complexity. Interesting, and still powerful.

Mildew and forest floor notes start to disappear after 90 minutes in the decanter. Still showing some fruit notes though, which is nice to see.

Good by itself or with food.

13% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

$80.

This vintage has reached its optimum drinking time in my opinion - I can't imagine it getting any better. Super creamy, dusty raspberry with a little vanilla. So delicious. Very well done @Philippe Guigal

Amazing bottle of wine. Wine of the night by far. Gorgeous structure and beautifully balanced fruit.

This wine was heat damaged. It seems like a running theme with Guigal in Georgia. Every time have have these wines in other states they're stunning. For some reason they always seem to be heat damaged here. Wine pooled on the top of the cork and under the label. Lame as hell

2006: lovely drink. Xlnt structure, sufficiently intense fruit to coat the line and drive leading to a fragrant farewell. V nice.
