Lemon Hill

Domaine Serene

Jerusalem Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016

Pleasantly surprised with this Oregon Pinot Noir. Oregon is usually light and leaves you feeling hungry for more. However, this little gem satisfies you to the core; physically, emotionally and spiritually. Icing on the cake? Dining at Brasswood Bar + Kitchen with this drink of the gods. — 5 days ago

much more saturated flavors from this producer than most Oregon wines have

Heart of the Hill Petite Sirah 2015

Dense dark purple-red, highly extracted pigment. Herbal and red fruit notes in nose. Black currant flavor, fine grained tannins in finish initially, cranberry aftertaste, high skin astringency. Massive tannins remain after three hours; decant longer else age, age, age this sucker... This could prove a really nice wine for the cellar. Solid seed bitterness backbone in this wine, but the skin and possibly stem astringency is the challenge in deciding whether to opt for aging versus decanting. Great varietal expression nonetheless. A bold yet largely successful take on an old school West Coast varietal. An alternative: decant 24 hours and the flavors are lovely, but the large tannins remain fairly massive. — 14 days ago

Acorn Hill Alegría Vineyards Red Blend 2014

Decided to have this for Sonoma tonight. Small producer that offers nice quality and variety. Full body red blend. Black berries. Licorice. Grippy tannins, but some acidity present. Overall nice bottle — 12 days ago

Lauterbach Hill Syrah 2004

Photo from file. 2004 Vintage. The cork just disintegrated but somehow the wax top saved the wine. Poured it trough a stained into decanter and then was wine of the night at poker. Drink up but have a strainer and decanter ready. Perhaps an ah-so twin blade cork puller would have done better and will try that on future bottles of this. It trumped a 2012 Saxum Broken Stones. — 10 days ago

Home Hill

Estate Tasmania Pinot Noir 2016

Dark and luminous. On the nose, this is a dead ringer for a big Gibbston Valley pinot. Red and black fruit, cherry, but the spice is the overriding trait. A very spicy cherry character with lovely silky mouthfeel. Broad but a little less structured and a bit shorter than a Valli or Gibbston Valley, but at $52, much better value. — a day ago

We tasted 25 whites that would pair well with any type of holiday vegetable dish and this one destroyed the competition. Kudos to Mike Januik for making something great for the holidays. Cheers! - WINEBOW (425) — 4 days ago

Diamond Creek Vineyards

Volcanic Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

Wow, what a night!! The Diamond Creek trifecta (Red Rock, Gravelly Meadow and Volcanic Hill) and Masseto. Oh my. They are all great! Masseto has to be one of the strongest Merlot’s made. The Red Rock Diamond Creek is a such a strong expression of terroir with a strong iron minerality. The Gravelly and Volcanic are much softer and approachable. Much like trying to pick between your kids! — 6 days ago

Still a baby . Many great years in front of it. So sad that Leslie stopped buying fruit from the original 4 acres. — 13 days ago

Freedom Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014

Purple red, medium pigment extraction, very good clarity. Barrel wood, cherry fruit leather notes in nose. Tart layered bing cherry flavor with length and slightly bitter seed tannin, mild skin astringency on finish. Good acidity and structure, lovely, well-defined contrasting skin tannin texture with rounded mouthfeel. Very nice wine, well balanced display of fruit and tannins. Age worthy, but drinkable enough now. Decant a couple of hours; you’ll be rewarded by greater depth and length of cherry flavor. A gift from my brother, for which I am indeed grateful. — 21 days ago
