The Familia Torres are the largest owners of organic vineyards in all of Spain. I love when large producers make commitments like that. But I’ve long been a fan of Mas La Plana and this vintage is no exception.

Opened sometime prior to service. The 2018 pours a ruby/purple color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with beautiful notes of cassis, tobacco, capsicum, purple flowers, dry organic earth, and a mix of dry herbs and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tanning and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. Just awesome stuff. These are long-loved wines. Drink now with patience through 2048. — 3 hours ago

Pale lemon in color.

Nice on the nose, and medium in body with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity.

Showing citrus, green apples, light spices, yeast, light brioche, minerals and sea salt.

Long finish with limes and almonds.

This 14 year old Champagne is starting to drink nicely now. Rich and nicely balanced. Tangy and spicy.

Still young, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.

I've had a few vintages of this Champagne, and this one seems less approachable at the moment.

Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food, like fresh seafood.

A blend of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir. Aged for 7 years on the lees.

12% alcohol by volume.

Torres family has been related to wine since 17th century when their ancestors first planted vines in the Penedès, a winegrowing region dating to the days of the Phoenicians. Deep Ruby with aromas of jammy fruit, pepper and toasty cedar. On the palate this blend of Cariñena, Garnacha and Syrah shows black currant, jammy blackberry and pepper, vivid acidity with fine grainy tannins, long finish ending with fruit, spice, oak and earthy character. Was hoping for so much after the St Jospeh VV ‘04, but Meh....not good p/q. Nice northern rhone dark fruit savoury nose. Decent weight, balance and structure, but no better than a decent St Joseph or even a very good CduR. Passsss at this price point. — 6 years ago
