2020 vintage. General manager Laure Canu states that Cantemerle has never followed trends and will always be a wine of elegance, never showy. And that is exactly what it is. After 15 minutes in the glass, it displays bright cassis fruit, mixed with flowers and cedar wood. Medium-bodied, fresh, and elegant, with more complexity and more refined tannins, compared to the 2018. Very good length too. This is the finest Cantemerle I have ever tasted. Incredible value too. Abv. 13,5 %. — 6 months ago
2020 vintage. Tour de Rieux is one of the 5 estates owned by the Fabre family in the Languedoc. Claire Fabre inheritated this Minervois estate in 2016. The vineyards are situated in the Laure Minervois, a pretender to the crown of specific "Cru" in the Languedoc. A very good effort in the "no added sulfites " category that is often more error than trial. It is light and refreshing with a nice spicy finish. Lovely, if simple. Abv. 13,5%. — 2 years ago
From 100yo vines. Very spicy, savoury character. Funky rhubarb and vegetal notes on the nose. The palate is full of dark fruit and spice. Very concentrated. A singular expression. — 2 months ago
Interesting red with bright fruit and barn yard funk. Paired well with my pork loin and oriechette with mushroom Bolognese. — 9 months ago
2020 vintage. Anne-Laure Sicard made very nice wine from the beginning (first vintage 2016), but they get better and better. This 2020 is a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault and it shows huge potential. — a year ago

Delicious Volnay. This was the last wine tasted on our 1 week trip to Burgundy. What you don’t see in all these Burg pics was all the tasting we did of the 2022 vintage which is either still in barrels or tanks. We were able to taste ~250 wines from the 2022 vintage. Quality looks good, quantity is way above 2021. 2023 was even more full in terms of quantity. Sante. — 5 months ago
Dry, but some floral notes. Very nice. Dider says good with white meat. — 2 years ago
2018 vintage. Marie Laure Lurton is one of the 10 children of Lucien Lurton and she owns Château Villegeorge (Haut-Médoc) and this Château La Tour de Bessan. Both are very good and refined. The 2018 La Tour de Bessan (named after 13th century tower on the estate that is being restaured) is a blend of 60 % Merlot, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon and a rather high (11%) percentage of Petit Verdot. Dark red. In the nose a mix of red and black fruit, cedar and Petit Verdot violet. Margaux is mostly associated with elegance and this is a good example. The fruit is bright, the tannins are well-tamed and the acidity provides juiciness and balance. Intelligent winemaking with just the right extraction. Great value at 18 euros. Abv. 14,5 % but perfectly integrated. Another lovely 2018. — 3 years ago
