Dalmau Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2013

My first Dalmau ever. What can i say, not ready at all, but what a terrific creamy nose. Complex and velvety with an explosion of aromas of wild fruit, dark chocolate and mineral notes. The palate is a beast with good tannic backbone, freshness and beautifull oak. A serious wine with lot of potential. Powerhouse! — 13 days ago

200 Monges Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2004

One of 4 wines brought to Folly Beach to enjoy a pre-15th anniversary celebration. Nose of black licorice and young pipe tobacco. Entry is a little bit sweeter, but classic Rioja with terroir driven notes, full bodied black cherry, black licorice, smoked pipe tobacco, brambleberry cola, semi-sweet plums, mint. Definitely more on the full-bodied side. Finishes long with a lot of pepper and flinty character. I honestly think this one has a solid 10 years ahead of it. — 11 days ago

Viña Bosconia Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2007

Shay A

As expected, even at 12yrs, this is very youthful. It’s rich without being heavy or dense. Cherry tobacco leaves accompanied by herbs de Provence and coconut/dill shavings on the nose. Crazy tart on the palate with high acidity. Mostly black cherry tart and fleshy cherry skin with a more herbal seasoning type finish. Give this time to evolve and add layers. — 14 days ago

Gran Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Graciano 2009

Another lovely wine! Better than last night but only marginally, so same score. These Spanish and Portuguese wines have the best textures. Definitely drink a little bit on the warmer side. This wine has more fruit and rust elements. Very refined and paired nicely with the suckling pig. — 11 days ago

Qué Bonito Cacareaba Rioja White Blend 2014

Named after a Spanish rooster, this wine is a highly compelling blend of wine is composed of 50% Garnacha Blanca, 35% Malvasía, and 15% Viura sourced from head-trained vines gown in a mix of alluvial and calcareous soil from the municipalities of San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Briones with Rioja Alta. The three different grape varieties, harvested at different dates according to ripeness, come from the Leza, Ariasabal, Murmurón, El Sauco, El Bombón y Las and Tasugueras Vineyards. The wine was aged in 225 L New French oak barrels for eight months of lees aging and battonage. This wine opens with bright aromas of lemongrass, lychee, nectarine and star jasmine. Aromatically gratifying and compelling the wine constantly brings you back to the glass for more enjoyment. The unctuous texture entices as the silky wine glides along the mid-palate. Orange rind, Meyer lemon, Gravenstein apple pie and white rose flavors come to mind. This is an absolutely stunning bottling by the talented hands of Benjamin Romeo. Drink 2019-2028- 94 — a day ago
