Superb for its humble appellation. Delicate nose needs a little coaxing, but when it comes through it’s got ripe lemon, a little moist limestoney gravel, and a faint hazelnut note. In the mouth it’s a little less shy, with a Meursault-like amalgam of smoky gravel, lemon oil, and dry oatmeal, though in a lighter format. Fantastic acids. Finish is quite lingering. Is it worth $90? Well, if you’re in the mood for PYCM and see it on the shelf, then, yes, you take it home. I was, I saw, I took home.

Me to a friend, “why don’t you also bring the Roulot Aligote you will thank me for taking a dead bottle out of your inventory “. Upon opening a subdued nose and palate. We poured some in our glass and went back to the other wines on the table. I could not believe the transformation that took place over 20 minutes.. The nose blossomed and the palate put on weight. A floral nose was joined by a palate of peach, minerals, and a hint of earth. A wine that was able to live because of its abundant acidity. . Once again I was forced to drink my words. — a month ago

Reliably consistent introductory Red Burgundy. Bright garnet/ruby color. Aromas of fresh red fruit with hints of red flowers and subtle spices. Flavors of red berry fruit (strawberry, raspberry and currants) with additional flavors of red licorice,baking spices and earth. Long, crisp and fresh finish. No sign of oak aging. Medium bodied with a very silky tannin structure. Granted, it lacks the complexity of high end Red Burgundy, but this wine’s fruit forward simplicity is charming. Wow. This is serious stuff.
Candied lemon, reductive hints of matchstick, smooth and spicy mouthfeel, creamy vanillin, beautiful veins of acidity. This might be the best Bourgogne Blanc in my cellar. We’ll see, as I plan to evaluate them in the months to come. — 3 months ago

This is a Bourgogne blanc.

Nose: lime zest. Mineral. Elegant. Yellow fruit.

The last time I was fortunate to enjoy the 2009 Bourgogne Aligoté was early 2025 so imagine my excitement to try this again. Looking back at my previous notes, not much has changed!

Opened about 30min prior to service. The 2009 pours a straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is still developing and reductive (as is common) with strong notes of struck match, apple, lime, herbs and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and a touch saline. Worked well with toro crudo. This bottle still needs air. Remarkable Aligoté. I’m revising my previous assessment on drinking window; this example seems to have the stuffing to show deep into next decade. Drink now with maybe a short decant, through 2039.
