Indulgence virtual wine tasting — 3 years ago
The 2016 Claret may be my favorite since the 2012 vintage. It is just bursting with all the flavors the Matthews Claret is known for and has so much much potential. Drink now if you cannot resist; otherwise, laying it down will yield an incredible indulgence years from now. — 5 years ago
Lemon lagoon biscuit monster broke the pack with a thin layer of lemon marmalade, a twist of lemon peel to tease the nose. Generous melon and merengue, apple tart, pineapple sorbet, lime, lime pith and sour orange. This is depth! I won’t insult with adgective over-indulgence: powerful.

Cherry red in colour. Notes of nettle, leather, old red cherries and cow yard. Smelly but tolerable - like a lot of naturally made wines. Occhipintis other venture COS - she is the O - keep the winemaking as natural as possible shunning chemical treatments in the vineyard (they are biodynamic) and shunning cultured yeasts in the winery. The red wines are bottled unfiltered. Ultra savoury and rustic. A blend of two Sicilian varieties Nero d’Avola and Frappato. Very tasty but not for long cellaring. My daughter who lives in Copenhagen loves natural wine and is surrounded by it in that city. For me it is the occasional indulgence. — 4 years ago
I gazed into the recesses of one of my wine fridges and saw this young sapling; I could not resist the call of indulgence. Remarkable purity of fruit with plums, cherries, rose petals, mint, graphite, and tilled earth. Looking forward to this opening up. — 5 years ago
Pre-birthday indulgence. Soft plums, savoury spice, prunes. Palate is med/full, with round soft dark fruit, cedar, rosemary. Great length. — 3 years ago
One of the iconic Tempranillo bottlings in North America, the 2017 ‘Impulsivo’ Tempranillo is a spectacular effort by superstar vigneron Christophe Baron. Sourced from the ‘En Chamberlin Vineyard’, the Tempranillo takes the lead with layers of Umami, bacon fat, cigar ash and green olive tapenade woven together with shades of blackberry compote and salted meats on this complex bouquet. The gorgeous aromatics bring you back to the glass for more indulgence. Once on the attack, the silky mouthfeel effortlessly glides across the mid-palate. The elegance of this wine is truly profound, as wild blackberry jam and Satsuma orange zest flavors meld with shades of Umami, bacon fat, tar and Yakima cherry on this complex palate. Wait for the exceedingly long finish that adds a brilliant crescendo to top off this masterpiece. Drink 2020-2030- 97 — 4 years ago
