2019 vintage. Medium/medium-heavy body. Have found a vast majority of the exalted 2019 vintage Brunellos underwhelming. This one restored my faith. Ageworthy and slightly restrained while leaking/spitting out just enough dark fruit magic upon entry. Mid-level tannic confirmation at the clearly signed exit. Tastes likes a heady, 50/50 mix of dialed down, self-expectations paired with the parents, "sky's the limit," visions. Blend of Corvina (60%), Corvinone (20%), Rondinella(10%), Croatina (5%) and Oseleta (5%). Dark ruby color. Aromas of dried red and black fruit, diesel fumes, leather and a bit of vanilla. Flavors of intense black berry/cherry/plum fruit, tobacco and sweet baking spices. The vanilla note is present on the long and lingering persistent finish. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of dinner. The 2021 pours a deep garnet color with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of black cherry, espresso, black tea, dried herbs and gentle warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. Drink now with patience but, to my palate, I think this will be better with a few more years in the cellar so the oak can better integrate.
