Yes I know this is way too early but I really wanted to see where this was. From a very old “mixed black” vineyard on a hill of decomposing slate loam. With an hour of air it’s showing deep, low-toned berry fruit, cracked stones, and a little warm gravel. Structured and very old world on the palate, it’s got a youthful wall of tannin guarding it right now, but there’s nice flavor density underneath and no hint of jamminess or residual sugar. Stow it for 3-5 years at least. But it will be really good. 9.2+ — 10 months ago
Still fruity and primary at seven years, slight pretty deep rose or violet to my impaired nose, cake spice and berries on palate, open since Monday night and want to hold a bit for tomorrow, still…but it’s a deep California glou-glou! — 2 years ago
RRV has never been one of my favorite Zin regions, but an old vineyard like this trumps that. Even at this young age the nose is lively, with deep spicy blackberry fruit and gravelly earth notes. intense and quite structured on the palate, with full body and nice acids. I’m drinking it way too young. It will age beautifully. 9.32 right now, likely higher in a few years. — 4 months ago
Rating is for the Chardonnay of the Edna Valley. A solid crisp Sonoma Chard with hints of apple. What a buy at TJs for just $10 for a limited time. — a year ago
A medium-to full-bodied red that is well-balanced. The tannins encourage the cherry and spice flavors to open up. The profile slowly shifts (after it has been opened ) to introduce it’s ancient Mediterranean heritage of mineralogy, spices of oregano and olives. The long finish connects all the flavors to allow for complete enjoyment. Italian Wine at its best. — a year ago
