A paragon of Pommard. Nose: perfect cherry scent. Palette: complex and full , changing through the sip, bitter cherry becoming sweet cherry become crisp acid. A great wine. — 3 years ago
Perfect hue for the Golden state. Nose is honey, cucumber and something funky. Maybe ‘pool toy’? Flavors are luscious. Streaks of acid and bitterness pair perfectly with the melon, apricots, yellow plums and honeysuckle. Pretty round in the mouth. It’s a fragrant and tasty CA Viognier. Hasn’t lost any freshness 5 years on. And it’s SIP Certified Sustainable to boot. — 6 years ago
This is unknit right now. Baby Hercules. Nose is still a bit woody. But if you peer under the covers it has it all. Dense fruit. Spice. Acidity. Length. Clings to the palate. Awesome texture. A thing of beauty. This rating is a low end of what this should be. The freshness of this wine given the density is astounding. Crazy dense length. Like squint your eyes in disbelief length. It should be epic in 2-3 years. One if the great vineyards of Europe. Old school. Bought from fass selections. — 7 years ago
Very solid. Light in body but bigger flavor profile — 8 years ago
Lovely, buttery Chardonnay. brought this wine to a lunch with friends and everyone enjoyed it. I am off to the store to buy several more. — 8 years ago
A show of force for basic Chablis and a preview of the craziness that is the wines made from better terroir. Incredible weight concentration and force. A bit of a baby Hercules at present. My guess is that it will calm down in a year or two. Amazing producer. Bought from Fass selections. 30 minutes later. ... the immense fruit acidity and minerality integrate. Wow. Insane. Maybe the best basic Chablis. One of the best entry level whites in burgundy. These wines need time or a big Decant. Hercules in a bottle. He needs time to stretch after being let out. — 9 years ago

Already ready to drink. Intense, Cabernet-driven Bordeaux, with deep black cherry and plum flavors. Powerful earthy nose. Superb value and a paragon of Pauillac. Great with Secret de Compostelle cheese. — 4 years ago

Favorite wine from my tasting in Cote-de-Nuits. Smokey nose with substantial fruit. Full bodied mouthful yet strong acid structure. This finish is everlasting. This will be an amazing wine in 5+ years. A paragon of Chardonnay. — 8 years ago

My last bottle brought over from Argentina and what a bottle it is. My friend tasted blind and thought Pinot noir, or even an Austrian red because it is so fleshy and fresh. A paragon of the Zelig that Malbec can be in the right hands. Carmelo Patti is a godfather of Mendoza wines & is, as far I can tell, a one man Gang of Four so it’s all about natural winemaking here: opaque Ruby, fresh red raspberries & cherries, tree bark, & a subtle grip on the back end. Tannic structure leaves a light imprint. Some imported to the states, & so worth seeking out. — 3 years ago
The 2018 Le Cigare Blanc was made from 54% Grenache Blanc grapes and 46% Vermentino from the Central Coast vineyards Cedar Lane, Paragon and Beeswax. I'll admit, I miss the Roussanne, which was jettisoned in favor of another grape. Fortunately, I love Vermentino, too, and it delivers enough salinity to be a worthy replacement. The nose threw me, because of its strong fruit’n’floral aromas. After a few minutes, the salinity came through and even more savory notes appeared on the nose. However, as with Le Cigare Volant, the Blanc is probably much more approachable in its new form. It doesn't mean I like it better. — 7 years ago
Pale onion-peel pink. Delicately fruity and floral aromas of jasmine, honyesuckle, redcurrant, gooseberry and minerals. Bright and crisp, this is a paragon of balance and delicacy. Lovely stuff. 100% Nerello Mascalese. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, June 2018) — 8 years ago
Founded in 1980, Winery is a partnership between Chalone Wine Group and Paragon Vineyard, defining the Central Coast appellation for which it is named. Aromas of tropical and citrus fruits and subtle spice. On the palate melon and peach flavors with citrus zest, vivid acidity, nicely balanced on medium finish. Good value.
