2nd Ribcap wine. Delicious!
2006 followed the grand 2005 vintage. It was overpriced based on 2005 & critically reviewed as a difficult vintage. I can tell you 06 was overpriced, but still a good to very good vintage depending on the region & producer.
The fruits are classic Bordeaux…nicely ripe; blackberries, black raspberries, very dark cherries, black plum, plum, mix of strawberries & red cherries. Wet, volcanic clay, lead pencil for days, slightly, dry tobacco, dark spices, mix of mostly dry & fresh herbs, clove, nutmeg, some cinnamon & vanillin, volcanic ash, used leather, sandalwood to cedar, forest floor w/ dry leaves, dry river stone, steeped, dark fruit tea, withering, slightly candied; dark, red florals with hints of violets, round, fresh, river stream acidy, a plush, round, elegant, nicely; tensioned, structured, balanced and elegant polished finish that last 90 seconds. — 11 days ago
Classic notes of left bank Bordeaux. 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot. Initially a sweet palate but after a few hours, restrained, balanced and a little dusty and herbaceous. Very fine tannins - totally resolved and seamless. A classy wine - the 2nd wine of a leading First Growth from a good vintage. — 16 days ago
Very dark rubi robe, nose of blackcurrant, flowers, asian apices and tobacco. The tannins are very elegant and the wine is very elegant and complex in the mouth. This is a fantastic vintage of Chasse Spleen and the wine is singing now. — 3 days ago
Opened around 8pm the evening prior, double decanted and left in room temperature until service on Friday evening. In total, this was opened 24hours before service. The 1995 pours a beautiful garnet with transparent core; medium viscosity with moderate stating of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with surprisingly boozy dark fruit. Brambles, cassis, bell pepper, licorice, spearmint and baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long with great acidity. Overall, remarkably youthful. While it’s certainly ready to go, it will likely continue some positive evolution over the next couple of decades. Drink now with a long decant through 2045. — a day ago
SPEC TA CU LAR! Here you feel the absolute majesty of a wine who can be promoted to at least 2nd growth. Cedar, camphor, eucalyptus, butterscotch/4 spices, yellow curry. I’ve always loved ‘00 in Pauillac has I think it’s the last great of the classic style. Definitely this bottling is a keeper. — 11 days ago
Opened four hours prior to service and decanted for 45 minutes before returning to the bottle. The 1982 pours a garnet color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with moderate stating of the tears. There remained some sediment despite being decanted. On the nose, the wine is vinous with an intriguing combination of ripe and desiccated (mostly) fruits: cassis, brambles, green bell pepper, leather, tobacco and a hint of baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is elegant, refined and satisfying. This is a classic expression of Margaux and certainly at peak. Sublime. Drink now through 2032+. — a day ago
2 hour decant(decent chunky sediment). A stunning dark crimson color with little bricking. On the nose: expressive perfumed notes of dark red fruit, creme de cassis, mushrooms, floral, touch of stewed meat and cigar box. Taste: velvety, classy, fresh wine with red fruit, minerals, herbal, earth, pencil lead and a nice peppery cedar/leather medium plus finish. Sure, maybe not the depth/concentration of a classic vintage, but I can sniff/sip this wine all night. YUM! Happy Father's day to me. — 10 days ago
Deep ruby . Quite deep and restrained cassis and blackberry, grafite , cedar and spice. On the palate very good definition and balance with ripe cassis , blackcurrant and dark cherry , grafite and cedar, mineral , oyster shell undertones . Ample tannin and richness but with good fresh acidity , and good length, balanced alcohol, complex and vibrant . Very young still, though the ripeness and roundness of the tannin helps to give an enjoyable drinking experience. I would prefer to come back in 5-8 years and will last well a further 10 -15. For a ‘second’ wine this really well done. — 15 days ago

Solid red color too the rim, mostly dried Redfruits with some developing mushroom/soy undertones, tannins are largely resolved with a medium-long finish, shows just a bit of the 1986 tannic/dry notes, at or very near peak, lovely older Bordeaux! — 13 hours ago
