Château Coucheroy Blanc 2019
Pessac-Léognan, Graves, Bordeaux, France 🇫🇷
Overview
A 100% Sauvignon Blanc crafted by the esteemed Vignobles André Lurton family at Château Coucheroy. Located in Pessac-Léognan, this estate combines noble Bordeaux heritage with modern elegance. The wine’s name—rooted in legend of King Henri IV’s visit—underscores its timeless appeal.
Aromas & Flavors
Pale yellow with green highlights, the nose is bright and vibrant with notes of lemon, citrus, and floral undertones. The palate mirrors this freshness with lime zest, delicate white florals, and a subtle saline touch that adds harmony.
Mouthfeel
Refreshing and balanced, this wine is well-rounded yet crisp. Its texture is smooth and approachable, finishing with a clean, lingering mineral accent.
Winemaking Notes
Vinification blends complexity and purity: partially fermented and aged in oak barrels for structure, and part in temperature-controlled stainless steel for freshness. Lees aging enhances depth without overpowering natural vibrancy.
Food Pairing
Perfect with bright, lightly seasoned seafood: think green asparagus flans, grilled langoustines, or classic Saltimbocca alla Romana.
Verdict
Château Coucheroy Blanc 2019 is a beautifully crafted expression of Sauvignon Blanc from Graves. It pairs refreshing acidity and mineral clarity with elegant texture—making for both a delightful aperitivo and a refined pairing wine. Its appeal lasts across meals and moments. Cheers! — 10 months ago
This was just stunning. One of those rare but complete Burgundy moments you dream about...
By a good head the best bottle of Burgundy I’ve had in a long time (from any producer, including a number of DRC La Tache etc.). A rare purity of fruit and intent - with a focused, peacock-tail like depth and length that just went on and on. A wonderful mix of redcurrents, raspberries, rhubarb, white pepper, and pomegranates, with a superb cut of scintillating acidity. The kind of wine that puts all the modern over-ripe Burgundies produced today into sharp focus. Why on Earth would any sane person aim for something other than this... — 8 years ago

2022 vintage. Less tied down to the traditional Meursault stylings and just going for it. Light-medium body. Moments of beauty. Moments of leanness and linear qualities. Lemon curd and (subdued) tangerine two driving forces in the flavor profile. Plenty of acidity without tippling/tipping over the edge. 10.8.25. — 9 months ago
Very fruity, light body and mouthfeel. Taste blueberries, milk chocolate, cherry, bit of blackberry. Reminiscent of holidays and moments before parties. Excellent bottle and ready to drink. — a year ago
Also had this at Boston’s Bubble Bath along with other well selected wines. Unlike any other Barbera ever tasted. From Emilia Romagna. Herbal snd chalky, with intense aromas reminiscent of Fernet Branca?! Concentrated but cooling red fruits. Unique, intriguing, one of rose oh my god wines keep surprising me moments. Great with a Bolognese from around the corner. — 2 years ago
Holy moly! I think this could be a top 20 of all time for only about $50. I have a few more bottles and I will treasure them. Incredible! This bottle made me sad because I knew while I was drinking it, but the moments would end. Bold mouth feel with soft tannins and yet it’s only five years old. You could pair this with an old shoe and it would still taste incredible. — 3 years ago

Aromatic masterpiece. Opens to loads of fresh cherries and raspberries. Soon the lavender and aromatics appear. Paul does wonders with a balance of concentrated fruits and complexity. Dark to med bodied. Wonderfully drinkable Pinot wine. — a month ago
