Nose has dried blackberry, ripe blackberry, dried black currant, old leather, roses, dry potting soil and cut strawberry.
Palate has ripe blackberry, black cherry, cigar, dried cherry, dark chocolate powder with a long finish. Fine tannins still make themselves known, noting the potential of longevity. Exceptional.
Our last bottle on this vintage, it had been a good run, but quite likely this bottle will continue to evolve thru 2024+. 100% Sangiovese.
Pulled the cork, 6h of breathing, then 90m of decant before dinner. Paired to a slowly cooked Bolognese sauce, as expected they worked well. It was a cool and breezy day today, highs in the low 60's (F). The end of May is going out like early May came in, chilly. A blend of Merlot 26%, Cab Franc 23%, Cab Sauv 19%, Syrah 15%, Sangiovese 12%, Petit Verdot 4%, Alicante 1%, deep Ruby with aromas of dark berry fruits with sweet spicy notes. On the palate flavors of ripe blackberry and blueberry with cacao and black pepper. Fine tannins, ending with ripe fruits, cacao and spice. Tasting great now. — 11 days ago
Me encanta este vino, había probado uno del 2016, aproveche y compre este del 2017, no tiene pierde vino fresco, frutado, la madera casi no se percibe, de color guinda profundo, en nariz: frutado, cerezas, café, vainilla, en boca: ligero, fresco, suave, frutado, redondo. Fresh red cherry, red berries with an undertone of réglisse. Silky tannin, great depth which requires a good hour to open. Once opened amazing nose that takes you to another place, a place you feel high! Must be the alcohol. Great 2015 vintage for this super Tuscan. Cheers — 8 days ago
Impressive rendition of this varietal but not for faint of heart: this is an austere lean angular beast w/razor sharp acidity and plenty of minerality & saline mingled w/herbaceousness. Echoes of kumquat & lime in 2nd day, but this remains a wine for seafood, salad or specific light fare. — 6 days ago
