Bordeaux style blend of Merlot (64%), Cabernet Sauvignon (17%), Cabernet Franc (10%) and Petite Verdot (9%). Dark ruby/purple color with a garnet rim. Aromas of dark berry fruit, graphite and dusty earth. Flavors of blackberry, black cherry, ripe plums, kirsch, black licorice and iron. Full bodied, long finish and intensely structured. Beautifully integrated acidity and tannins. Great combination of power and elegance. — 18 days ago
2022 vintage. Durty dirty intro nose. Medium body. Grippy with little hedonism. Very businesslike. Should age effortlessly for a solid 20-spot. Woulda picked it up but surprisingly good in the Italian section in that price range. It's in the notes tho...do occasionally recall/pluck sin on sin a wine from time to time and commit. Could see this easily rolling into 9.5 territory within the next decade. 04.02.25. — 16 days ago
Drinking gorgeously right now. Nose still showing ripe dark red berry/cherry, with secondary notes of leather and mahogany furniture developing. also some warm gravel. Remarkable balance in the mouth. Fruit and acids, tannins resolving to a point of velvety softness. — 13 days ago
Tawny coloration with the slightest bit of transparency. On the nose, cherry, currants, plum, forest floor, sweet tobacco and florals. On the palate, full body, cherry, plum, spice, leather, sweet tobacco, earth/dust/minerals, tannins strong and chewy. Long finish of chocolate and sweet berry. Layered and complex wine. — a day ago
Deep, dark ruby coloration. Almost black. No translucency. Heavy tearing. On the nose, dark cherry, blueberry, blackberry, currant, tobacco, forest floor and florals. On the palate, full body, lush mouth feel, strong minerality, with jammy black currant, anise, pepper, followed by a long finish of chocolate, forever, and hints of mint. Nicely balanced tannins. Outstanding wine. — 14 days ago
A big wine! Four hour decant was just right for this 1998 edition! — 4 days ago

At an Italian Restaurant on the Gold Coast having a nice pasta dish of Rigatoni with Lamb Shoulder. This wine by San Guido where their top Cuvée is the famous Sassicaia. This wine is 50/50 Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Oak maturation is well balanced using a combination of new and used oak. The nose shows obvious Cabernet traits and shows again how suitable Bolgheri is to Bordeaux blends - plummy notes. A good match with the dish. A dry finish. — 3 days ago
