Expressive nose with black peppercorns, cloves, crushed rock, a hint of iron & blood, underneath all that - pure black fruit. Fresh, spicy, enticing.
Medium bodied on the palate with ripe, grippy tannins, juicy black fruit acidity and nice purity to the fruit. This has grip, good tension, quite some power and loads of character. Reminiscent of Northern Rhône.
Nice length, too! A brilliant Austrian red! — 4 years ago
Waxed leather, dusty brick, slow cooked meat, wood smoke. Never had a wine from this area before and thoroughly enjoyed it, very earthy very visceral wine. Could if he’s a little more structured, but all things considered I’m not enough in an expert to say this that or whatever. Really delicious and went very well with giant pasta shells, high fat butter, and venison meatballs. No complaints. — 5 months ago

Darker color than the Fleurie, more dark fruited, on the one hand still grapey fruit, but accompanied by some good tannic structure and fine balancing acidity, much more youthful than the Fleurie as well, lingering finish, should continue to evolve for another 2-3 years, at least. — 14 days ago
