Azienda Agricola Ronchi

Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2018

Lighter tannins, and softer. But boy does it pack a nose! Dark cherries, figs, leather and wood. Nice long fruity finish. — 2 years ago

Deovlet

Sonny Boy Santa Barbara County Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Big and bold but polite. So very pleasant. All the plums, cherries you want with a side of vanilla. — 3 years ago

Dominio de Pingus

Ribera del Duero Tempranillo 1995

It took a while to figured out what sort of big boy this wine was. Pristine and so young. Still bright and perfectly composed. Incredible for a wine made for the first time. Such a real “fuoriclasse”. — 14 days ago

Kanzel Pinot Noir 2016

Lyle Fass
9.6

Just brilliant. Took 1.5 hours but boy did this unfold. A brilliant wine. 1/3 germany, 1/3 oregon, 1/3 burgundy. Just a world class traveling Pinot Noir. The aromatics were 9.7-9.8. Wait 5 more years if you have some. — a year ago

Mollydooker Wines

Blue Eyed Boy Shiraz 2016

Dark purple/black color. Intense aromas of blueberry, vanilla, smokey bacon fat and caramel. The bold palate is quite complex. Flavors of blue/black berry fruit, dark chocolate, maple, ripe plums, black pepper and coffee. Rich and plush. Mouth coating texture. Long finish and chewy tannins. Ultra full bodied and quite expressive. Works especially well with grilled meat. — 3 months ago

Ridge Vineyards

Lytton Springs Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel Blend 2018

For a Ridge Zin, this strikes me as a big boy. Rich nose has intense, rich, spicy blackberry fruit, accented with a little pungent American oak, and a nice dry gravel note underneath. Expansive in the mouth, the fruit is rich and concentrated, but avoids jamminess, and the palate also features a characteristic brambly component. Finishes dry and clingy, with tactile tannins (soft) coating the mouth. I’m having it with pasta, but this wine is built for a grilled porterhouse. — 2 years ago

Piggott Range Vineyard Syrah 2006

It showed great tonight, one of the best Syrahs in a long time. So complex, so complete, so full of flavour and life, so enjoyable. With many more years ahead of it. Boy, was Jay Miller ever right about this wine. — 2 years ago
