Age has turned this 2010 magnum coffee-chocolate brick brown, but if memory serves this is an appassimento, Amarone-esque wine. It shows raisin and plum behind grill notes and black tobacco, fig and date. Tart dried cherry palate echoes tobacco, espresso and offers a cassis note. Earthy and bold. This wine exudes muscle, but does not lean on a Jammy-ness or blowsy-ness to deliver it. Really different, and singular.

This is a delicious Barolo from Serralunga in Piedmont. Well balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Round complex and interesting.
This 6 year old is still young, but already enjoyable, even by itself. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.

Still full of tannin. Big plum nose. Lots of fruit. Wish I had another. — 5 months ago
The 2019 Barolo Prapò is packed with dark fruit, leather, smoke, tobacco, incense and mocha. The darker, more somber side of Serralunga comes through in this decidedly virile, imposing Barolo. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, November 2023)
