What a great wine, went really well with roasted ducks breast and butternut squash risotto. — 4 years ago
A hint of oxidation on the nose along with red berries and spice. Much heavier and less precise in the mouth than the CdM. Tons of everything on the palate , red fruit, chalk and earth. If a wine could be a bully this is it. A stricter structure than the CdM. Unlimited aging potential. — 9 months ago
N: Golden raisins, caramel, oak, vanilla,
Seemingly unlimited depth. Lots of volatile esters. This is day 2 open. More expressive than upon initial opening.
P: interesting salty brine dominates, wood, lacquer, fruits are subservient.Long finish.
Very old fashioned and fortified to 18° — 4 years ago
Just concluded our annual Fall seclusion at our cabin in the Rangeley lakes region of Maine, mobile service up there is mostly non-existent, after several days I am posting again. Notes are somewhat brief, as my focus is relaxing and watching the Common Loons swimming and diving in the cove in front of our camp.
60% Zinfandel, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc, for the 2005 vintage blend. This label features Redhead ducks, which we have commonly seen occupying our beachfront, not this year unfortunately.
Nose has vanilla bean, pipe tobacco, ripe cherry, ripe blackberry, prune (light) and over-ripe plum.
Palate has rich blackberry & cherry, oak plank, chalk (light), dried strawberry, ripe plum and raisin (light).
Beautifully long finish and tannins are long gone; this bottle is at the end of its life, also our last bottle of this vintage. Always interesting to see how long they will hold. The labels have always been a favorite of ours. — 6 years ago
Very bold, earthy and full bodied. Olive, cardamom chocolate and blackberry. 80% Cabernet 20% Shiraz. 15% ABV. Bought in Niseko Japan about 4 years ago at a wine shop run by an Aussie would you believe. Intended drinking this at the ski resort and ended up bringing it home. This is a sibling to the legendary DUCK MUCK from this estate which used to change hands for four figures on the secondary market after a 100 point rating from Robert Parker. Hearty and flavoursome - a good Winter Red. Would be tough going on a hot day in Summer. — a year ago
Love it go so well with the ducks Takao San made — 3 years ago
I tend to like everything that @duncanarnot and @make but I don’t buy every wine they make, mostly because I don’t have an unlimited budget and there are some of their wines I really, really love. But recently I decided to get a bottle of their Kirschemannn Zinfandel, and it’s glorious. At 12.6% alcohol it’s this wonderfully easy-to-drink balance between boysenberry fruit and lovelely fresh herbal essence. Fabulous acidity and wonderfully floral finish. Zinfandel made like a Pinot Noir, if you will. Ethereal even. And how can you go wrong with vines farmed by @ownrooted? 2017 Arnot-Roberts “Kirschenmann Vineyard” Zinfandel, Mokelumne River, Lodi, CA. — 4 years ago

No doubt at this point in time, the Sauvignon Blanc is dominating. Intense, lemon and lime with above average acidity that makes this wine almost one dimensional at this point in time. Would love to revisit in a decade. My score reflects today with unlimited upside potential. — 7 months ago
