What a great wine, went really well with roasted ducks breast and butternut squash risotto. — 5 years ago
This was my last bottle out of a six pack from Saint Emilion that I bought back in 2011, this wine was simply lovely and really evolved over the course of the last decade, showing the greatness of the 2009 vintage in Bordeaux. As greatness is showed on the less famous wines of the vintage not on first growth who have unlimited resources. Really elegant, balanced and delicious, lovely notes of earth, black fruits and coffee, with a touch of minerals. My score 90, drink to 2021 — 7 years ago
The funny thing is that you aspect a crisp vertical wine and I dare to say this label is exceptionally well made every vintage I have tasted. Potential to age unlimited
You get so much flesh with chablis like minerality which you very rarely meet
Long finish
Yes still super young but also very enjoyable already — 7 years ago

It's just me, Jill, and Darlene and she decided to head into the cellar and pluck this guy from her personal rack (2013). Darlene - I wish I was one of your six children and we could hang out with the ducks and drink this until your cows came home. Beautifully aged and stunningly different from the 2011 and 2014. There is a reason the 2012 is sold out and few bottles of this are left. — 8 years ago
A hint of oxidation on the nose along with red berries and spice. Much heavier and less precise in the mouth than the CdM. Tons of everything on the palate , red fruit, chalk and earth. If a wine could be a bully this is it. A stricter structure than the CdM. Unlimited aging potential. — a year ago
N: Golden raisins, caramel, oak, vanilla,
Seemingly unlimited depth. Lots of volatile esters. This is day 2 open. More expressive than upon initial opening.
P: interesting salty brine dominates, wood, lacquer, fruits are subservient.Long finish.
Very old fashioned and fortified to 18° — 5 years ago
Just concluded our annual Fall seclusion at our cabin in the Rangeley lakes region of Maine, mobile service up there is mostly non-existent, after several days I am posting again. Notes are somewhat brief, as my focus is relaxing and watching the Common Loons swimming and diving in the cove in front of our camp.
60% Zinfandel, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc, for the 2005 vintage blend. This label features Redhead ducks, which we have commonly seen occupying our beachfront, not this year unfortunately.
Nose has vanilla bean, pipe tobacco, ripe cherry, ripe blackberry, prune (light) and over-ripe plum.
Palate has rich blackberry & cherry, oak plank, chalk (light), dried strawberry, ripe plum and raisin (light).
Beautifully long finish and tannins are long gone; this bottle is at the end of its life, also our last bottle of this vintage. Always interesting to see how long they will hold. The labels have always been a favorite of ours. — 7 years ago

09' Larkmead LMV Salon. 63% CB 16% CF 5% Malbec & Merlot.
Two hour decanting & it's still a bit tight. So much going on in this wine. Even more so than Russell's EE last night.
Big boy Red ... dark berries, mocha, unlimited layers in this wine. 10/15 great years in it.
2004 through 2010 👍
I've got to purchase some older vintages of Salon/ Solari !!! These wines are like hidden gems. -at Humu Humi, Grand Wailea-Maui — 9 years ago

Very bold, earthy and full bodied. Olive, cardamom chocolate and blackberry. 80% Cabernet 20% Shiraz. 15% ABV. Bought in Niseko Japan about 4 years ago at a wine shop run by an Aussie would you believe. Intended drinking this at the ski resort and ended up bringing it home. This is a sibling to the legendary DUCK MUCK from this estate which used to change hands for four figures on the secondary market after a 100 point rating from Robert Parker. Hearty and flavoursome - a good Winter Red. Would be tough going on a hot day in Summer. — 2 years ago
Love it go so well with the ducks Takao San made — 3 years ago
I tend to like everything that @duncanarnot and @make but I don’t buy every wine they make, mostly because I don’t have an unlimited budget and there are some of their wines I really, really love. But recently I decided to get a bottle of their Kirschemannn Zinfandel, and it’s glorious. At 12.6% alcohol it’s this wonderfully easy-to-drink balance between boysenberry fruit and lovelely fresh herbal essence. Fabulous acidity and wonderfully floral finish. Zinfandel made like a Pinot Noir, if you will. Ethereal even. And how can you go wrong with vines farmed by @ownrooted? 2017 Arnot-Roberts “Kirschenmann Vineyard” Zinfandel, Mokelumne River, Lodi, CA. — 5 years ago
Dips, dives, dodges, ducks, and dodges. A bit hot and loose out of the gate--even chilled. Dank, acidic; pineapple and overripe ambrosia salad struggling to come up for air. Yields to pine, chalk, metalic. Grippy. — 7 years ago
As tight as a ducks ass, and that’s watertight!
Not a pop n pour. Needs a few more years, but great already.., — 8 years ago
Fantastic. Rich dark berry fruit with leathery sweet nose. Really lovely paired with roasted wild ducks. — 8 years ago
I've missed posting a couple of wines along the way. Currently in Firenze... this is a typical grocery store Brunello. Like 22 Eu, 26$. This would be I'd say a $40 Brunello in US. So I'll rate ignoring price.
It's a bit on the medium-bodied side, despite being 2011, no sign of age in color. Needs more time. The nose is interesting for me in that it's very barnyard. Wife is put off lol. Finish is nice and with light tannins.
It's ok. It's like when I buy a 16-20 dollar bottle quickly for pizza night, these guys get a decent Brunello. Not fair!!! But then again, I have unlimited Air Conditioning, which is another story.
Glad to be in Florence, people in Venice were worse than I remember.

No doubt at this point in time, the Sauvignon Blanc is dominating. Intense, lemon and lime with above average acidity that makes this wine almost one dimensional at this point in time. Would love to revisit in a decade. My score reflects today with unlimited upside potential. — a year ago
