Rich, mature, nutty, floral and citrusy. Mandarin, mango, lemon oil, lots of peppery spice, resin, wet rocks, pine kernels and cheese.
True, it’s a peculiar mixture, but it works!
This is great to drink now, the sooner the better, in your garden, some roasted almonds and some old goatcheese within reach.

Domaine Ogereau, La Saponaire, Savennières 2021.
Organic Savennières. This is extremely impressive. Wow, what a wine!! The wine has a golden hue that could be something to be seen in an older wine. The nose is gorgeous: fresh and juicy red apple juice, honey, wax... The palate is very dry and shows a massive acid drive. There is apple, there is some wax, a great width, a very vivid mouthfeel, and an everlasting finish with wax and apple touches that goes on for ever. This is a great Savennières, I'm absolutely loving this. — a year ago
Nose is bright cherry, lavender, strawberry, raspberry, and rose. Smooth cherry and ripe strawberry predominate the palate along with cinnamon, tart peach, and ripe apricot. Light tannin, medium alcohol, and high acid that lingers long into the finish. — 3 years ago
Spot on in the blind. Well nearly. Was pretty adamant that it was a Vouvray. Just felt too fresh, crisp, and floral for a Savennières. Also lacking the typical Savennières hay-like character. Makes more sense once you find out that this wine comes from the highest point in the appellation. Wine-wise, it felt pretty quiet compared to the others on the table but I loved the energy. Taut, with a very distintive Chenin-acidity. Notes of lemon rind, pear, white flowers, and hints of lanolin. Quite an airy wine. One to revisit too. — a year ago
Vintage 2008 | how old is this wine, I asked my not completely inexperienced wife… she smelled, looked at the colour and said: 8 years. But as we know Chenin Blanc can age effortless for many years. Looking at the colour does not say much. This Savennieres is fourteen years old. In excellent condition, crisp and vivid. Multi layered smell with hay, impressions of citrus, mango, stone fruit, minerals. Very refined bitters and great balance. True to type. Lovely. Paired with dim sum and stir-fried Asian vegetables. — 3 years ago

Like revenge, this is best serve chilled (even though it is a red). A fascinating combination of CF, Grolleau Noir, CS, Pinot d’Aunis and Gamay. Hand-harvested 75% from the estate, rest from neighbors. This wine has great texture and structure. 12% abv. From the family Ogreau, who apparently, are also musicians. $27 — 5 months ago
