Fort Ross

Fort Ross Vineyard Chenin Blanc 2021

Sumptuous, layered #cheninblanc. This is a new offering for this excellent producer starting with this 2021 vintage. 16 months in neutral French oak plus another 6 months of bottle aging. Baked pear, subtle caramel, lemon curd aromas. Layers continue on the palate, luxurious texture, bright acidity and hints of sea salt. Paired quite grandly with Sichuan courses including the amazing Sichuan peppercorn with the tongue numbing spice. — 2 years ago

Vouvray Chenin Blanc

#vouvray verve - a little bit more RS on this #cheninblanc, crunchy green apple on nose and palate, still mouthwatering acidity and a bracing finish. I tend to favor a bone dry Vouvray but enjoyable nonetheless. — 3 years ago

Les Chanteaux Chinon Chenin Blanc 2018

Captivating #chinon #cheninblanc - green apple, fresh herbs, rounded honey notes. QPR not that high up there for $30 but a lovely wine. — 3 years ago

Nice

Chenin Blanc Viognier 2020

One of my favorite whites from #nice Winery. Stone fruit, apple / pear and white floral nose as expected from #cheninblanc #viognier blend. Fleshy white peach palate, mouthwatering green apple tartness, nectarious mouthfeel. — 4 years ago

Stellenbosch Chenin Blanc 2020

Food-friendly #stellenbosch estate #cheninblanc - baked apple, honey and soft white flowers on the nose. Delicious bright acidity, steely apple on the tongue. Strong estate offering for the price - paired pretty well with a Manchurian cauliflower and rice dish picking up the tart notes in the sauce and enough verve to complement the Asian spices. ~$13 at Total Wine. — 5 years ago

Delicious. So juicy and nuanced. There’s so much concentration! The barrel fermentation is perfect in my opinion. There’s a little bit of intentional reduction and there are some popcorn aromas as well. On the palate a rich rush of lemon pie, lemon tart, pineapple, and quince fills your mouth. #cheninblanc #verdelho #viognier #coastalregion #southafrica 13.5% alcohol and perfect. I hate critics that judge a wine by the alcohol on thelabel. — 6 years ago

Old Vine Paarl Chenin Blanc 2022

Enchanting #cheninblanc from Western Cape, South Africa. Classic bruised apple plus some mineral aromas with a faint backdrop of baked apple with spices. Laser beam of acidity on palate, lush texture with a bit of spice on finish. Delicious. #paarl — 2 years ago

Moulin Touchais

Coteaux du Layon Chenin Blanc 1981

Last of the 1981 bottles I bought for my dear wife’s birthday and I believe this was the best. The cork was in incredible condition, looked only a few years old - Ah So made easy work of it. After allowing it to warm a bit - caramel apple, some barnyard funk on the nose, plus an under layer of fresh green apple. Palate is beautifully balanced, no sign of fatigue at all - this #coteauxdulayon #cheninblanc could coast for ages it seems. Caramel and honey notes, fleshy texture, some lemon, piercing acidity cutting through that sweetness, and more fresh green apple underlaying the baked notes. This was a nice counterpoint to the Sauternes we had closer to her actual birthday and a compelling alternative. — 5 years ago

Toichais lasts forever! We celebrated my parents’ 50th anniversary with a 1959 and it was as good as new! Better even!
