Les Cras Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2006

Barthod needs age, and ‘06 Les Cras, one of my favorite sites in Burgundy, is showing beautifully tonight after some air, not at all clunky like the vintage can sometimes be, but instead showing both richness and elegance, focus and complexity, and at the perfect intersection of primary and secondary character. A terrific 2006. — 4 months ago

Les Gruenchers Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2017

One of my favorite Chambolle producer. So much floral and perfumed nose, with solid structure and fine tannin. Suggest drinking it very slow without decanting — 3 years ago

Agreed! Quite low profile and the price stays reasonable

Les Chatelots Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2014

Cherries, vanilla, potpourri, spice and a bit of smoke on the nose. Palate still has a bit of oak sheen initially then opens up and integrates after a couple hours of air, dominated by tart red fruit (cherry, pomegranate, and framed by wood smoke, clove, licorice, dried leaves, and a slightly astringent finish that makes the palate water. Elegant, very chambolle, plenty of structure for the long haul — 4 months ago

Chambolle-Musigny Pinot Noir

Exchanged dishwasher heating element myself, which justified opening this on a Wed. Cranberry, soil. A bit austere at first but opened to crunchy cran apple. Great with chicken and rice. — 3 years ago

Les Charmes Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2008

First night was primary, young, loads of red fruit, lots of fun. Third night was intensely fragrant, deeper red fruit, earthy, complex. Maybe from now on I will decant these for three days before drinking. 2008 vintage. — 3 years ago

Wow, a collideascope on day two of purple candy and its wrapper’s aroma. Stone finish has some authority. — 6 months ago

Aux Combottes Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2010

2010 and still very very young. Doesn’t mean not enjoyable. Opulent cranberry and tart bing cherry. Loads of forest floor. Very powerful aromas. More than I’m used to with Barthod. Palate is still tight and needs air. After a while it really starts to sing. Amazing wine. Want to taste in another decade. — 3 years ago
